Women Support Jesus
1SoonG1722G2517 afterwardG1722G2517, 1Jesus began goingG1353 aroundG1353 from one cityG4172 and villageG2968 to anotherG2596, 2proclaimingG2784 and preachingG2097 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316. The twelveG1427 were with Him, 2and also 3someG5100 womenG1135 whoG3739 had beenG1510 healedG2323 of evilG4190 spiritsG4151 and sicknessesG769: 4MaryG3137 who was calledG2564 MagdaleneG3094, from whomG3739 sevenG2033 demonsG1140 had goneG1831 outG1831, 3and JoannaG2489 the wifeG1135 of ChuzaG5529, 5Herod’sG2264 6stewardG2012, and SusannaG4677, and manyG4183 othersG2087 whoG3748 were contributingG1247 toG1247 their supportG1247 out of their privateG5225 meansG5225.
Parable of the Sower
47NowG1161 when a largeG4183 crowdG3793 was comingG4896 togetherG4896, and thoseG3588 from the variousG2596 citiesG4172 were journeyingG1975 to Him, He spokeG3004 by wayG1223 of a parableG3850: 5“The sowerG4687 wentG1831 outG1831 to sowG4687 his seedG4703; and as he sowedG4687, someG3739G3303 fellG4098 besideG3844 the roadG3598, and it was trampledG2662 underfootG2662, and the birdsG4071 of the skyG3772 ateG2719 it upG2719. 6OtherG2087 seed fellG2667 on rockyG4073 soil, and when it cameG5453 upG5453, it witheredG3583 awayG3583 becauseG1223 it hadG2192 noG3361 moistureG2429. 7OtherG2087 seed fellG4098 amongG1722G3319 the thornsG173; and the thornsG173 grewG4855 upG4855 withG4855 it and chokedG638 it outG638. 8And yet otherG2087 seed fellG4098 into the goodG18 soilG1093, and grewG5453 upG5453, and producedG4160 a cropG2590 a hundredG1542 timesG1542 asG1542 muchG1542.” As He saidG3004 theseG3778 thingsG3778, He would callG5455 outG5455, “8The one who hasG2192 earsG3775 to hearG191, 9let him hearG191.”
910NowG1161 His disciplesG3101 began askingG1905 Him whatG5101 thisG3778 parableG3850 11meantG1510. 10And He saidG3004, “12To you it has been grantedG1325 to knowG1097 the 13mysteriesG3466 of the kingdomG932 of GodG2316, but to the restG3062 they are told in parablesG3850, soG2443 thatG2443 1415while seeingG991 they may not seeG991, and 16while hearingG191 they may not understandG4920.
11“NowG1161 thisG3778 is the parableG3850: 17the seedG4703 is the wordG3056 of GodG2316. 12And thoseG3588 besideG3844 the roadG3598 are the ones who have heardG191, thenG1534 the devilG1228 comesG2064 and takesG142 awayG142 the wordG3056 from their heartG2588, soG2443 thatG2443 they will not believeG4100 and be savedG4982. 13Those on the rockyG4073 soil are the ones whoG3739, whenG3752 they hearG191, receiveG1209 the wordG3056 with joyG5479; and yet theseG3778 do not haveG2192 a firm rootG4491; 18they believeG4100 for a whileG2540, and in a timeG2540 of temptationG3986 they 19fallG868 awayG868. 14And the seed which fellG4098 amongG1519 the thornsG173, theseG3778 are the ones who have heardG191, and as they goG4198 onG4198 their wayG4198 they are chokedG4846 by worriesG3308, richesG4149, and pleasuresG2237 of this lifeG979, and they bringG5052 noG3756 fruitG5052 toG5052 maturityG5052. 15But the seed in the goodG2570 soilG1093, theseG3778 are the ones whoG3748 have heardG191 the wordG3056 20with a goodG2570 and virtuousG18 heartG2588, and holdG2722 it firmlyG2722, and produceG2592 fruitG2592 with 21perseveranceG5281.
Parable of the Lamp
16“NowG1161 22noG3762 oneG3762 lightsG681 a lampG3088 and coversG2572 it over with a containerG4632, orG2228 putsG5087 it underG5270 a bedG2825; but he putsG5087 it on a lampstandG3087 soG2443 thatG2443 thoseG3588 who comeG1531 inG1531 may seeG991 the lightG5457. 1723For nothingG3756 is concealedG2927 that will not becomeG1096 evidentG5318, norG3761 anything hiddenG614 that will not be knownG1097 and comeG2064 to lightG5318. 18SoG3767 takeG991 careG991 howG4459 you listenG191; 24for whoeverG3739G302 hasG2192, to him more will be givenG1325; and whoeverG3739G302 does not haveG2192, evenG2532 whatG3739 he 25thinksG1380 he hasG2192 will be takenG142 awayG142 from him.”
1926NowG1161 His motherG3384 and brothersG80 cameG3854 to Him, and they were unableG3756G1410 to getG4940 to Him becauseG1223 of the crowdG3793. 20And it was reportedG518 to Him, “Your motherG3384 and Your brothersG80 are standingG2476 outsideG1854, wishingG2309 to seeG3708 You.” 21But He answeredG611 and saidG3004 to them, “My motherG3384 and My brothersG80 are theseG3778 27who hearG191 the wordG3056 of GodG2316 and doG4160 it.”
Jesus Stills the Sea
2228NowG1161 on oneG1520 of those daysG2250 29Jesus and His disciplesG3101 gotG1684 into a boatG4143, and He saidG3004 to them, “Let’s crossG1330 overG1330 to the otherG4008 sideG4008 of 30the lakeG3041.” SoG2532 they launchedG321 outG321. 23But as they were sailingG4126 along He fellG879 asleepG879; and a fierceG2978 galeG2978 of windG417 descendedG2597 on 31the lakeG3041, and they began to be swampedG4845 and to beG2793 inG2793 dangerG2793. 24They cameG4334 upG4334 toG4334 Jesus and wokeG1326 Him, sayingG3004, “32MasterG1988, MasterG1988, we are perishingG622!” And He gotG1326 upG1326 and 33rebukedG2008 the windG417 and the surgingG2830 34wavesG2830, and they stoppedG3973, and 35it becameG1096 calmG1055. 25And He saidG3004 to them, “WhereG4226 is your faithG4102?” But they wereG5399 fearfulG5399 and amazedG2296, sayingG3004 to oneG240 anotherG240, “WhoG5101 thenG686 is thisG3778, that He commandsG2004 evenG2532 the windsG417 and the waterG5204, and they obeyG5219 Him?”
The Demon-possessed Man Cured
2636ThenG2532 they sailedG2668 to the countryG5561 of the GerasenesG1086, whichG3748 is oppositeG495 GalileeG1056. 27And when He steppedG1831 outG1831 ontoG1909 the landG1093, a manG435 from the cityG4172 metG5221 Him who was possessedG2192 with demonsG1140; and he had not putG1746 on clothingG2440 for a longG2425 timeG5550 and was not livingG3306 in a houseG3614, but amongG1722 the tombsG3418. 28And seeingG3708 JesusG2424, he criedG349 outG349 and fellG4363 downG4363 beforeG4363 Him, and saidG3004 with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, “3738WhatG5101 business do You have with me, JesusG2424, SonG5207 of 39the MostG5310 HighG5310 GodG2316? I begG1189 You, do not tormentG928 me!” 29For He had already commandedG3853 the uncleanG169 spiritG4151 to comeG1831 outG1831 of the manG444. For it had seizedG4884 him manyG4183 timesG5550; and he was boundG1195 with chainsG254 and shacklesG3976 and keptG5442 underG5442 guardG5442, and yet he would breakG1284 the restraintsG1199 and be drivenG1643 by the demonG1140 into the desertG2048. 30And JesusG2424 askedG1905 him, “WhatG5101 is your nameG3686?” And he saidG3004, “40LegionG3003”; becauseG3754 manyG4183 demonsG1140 had enteredG1525 him. 31And they were beggingG3870 Him not to commandG2004 them to goG565 awayG565 into 41the abyssG12.
32NowG1161 there was a herdG34 of manyG2425 pigsG5519 feedingG1006 thereG1563 on the mountainG3735; and the demons beggedG3870 Him to permitG2010 them to enterG1525 42the pigs. And He gaveG2010 them permissionG2010. 33And the demonsG1140 cameG1831 outG1831 of the manG444 and enteredG1525 the pigsG5519; and the herdG34 rushedG3729 downG2596 the steepG2911 bankG2911 into 43the lakeG3041 and was drownedG638.
34NowG1161 when the herdsmenG1006 sawG3708 what had happenedG1096, they ranG5343 awayG5343 and reportedG518 everything in the cityG4172, and in the countryG68. 35And the people cameG1831 outG1831 to seeG3708 what had happenedG1096; and they cameG2064 to JesusG2424 and foundG2147 the manG444 from whomG3739 the demonsG1140 had goneG1831 outG1831, sittingG2521 downG2521 44at the feetG4228 of JesusG2424, clothedG2439 and in his rightG4993 mindG4993; and they becameG5399 frightenedG5399. 36ThoseG3588 who had seenG3708 everything reportedG518 to them howG4459 the man who had been 45demon-possessedG1139 had been 46madeG4982 wellG4982. 37And allG537 the 47peopleG4128 of the territoryG4066 of the GerasenesG1086 andG4066 theG4066 surroundingG4066 regionG4066 askedG2065 Him to leaveG565 them, becauseG3754 they were overwhelmedG4912 by greatG3173 fearG5401; and He gotG1684 into a boatG4143 and returnedG5290. 3848But the manG435 from whomG3739 the demonsG1140 had goneG1831 outG1831 was beggingG1189 Him that he might 49accompanyG1510G4862 Him; but Jesus sentG630 him awayG630, sayingG3004, 39“ReturnG5290 to your homeG3624 and describeG1334 whatG3745 greatG3745 thingsG3745 GodG2316 has doneG4160 for you.” SoG2532 he wentG565 awayG565, proclaimingG2784 throughoutG2596G3650 the cityG4172 whatG3745 greatG3745 thingsG3745 JesusG2424 had doneG4160 for him.
Miracles of Healing
4050And as JesusG2424 was returningG5290, the 51peopleG3793 welcomedG588 Him, for they had allG3956 beenG1510 waitingG4328 forG4328 Him. 4152And a manG435 namedG3686 JairusG2383 cameG2064, and he was an 5354officialG758 of the synagogueG4864; and he fellG4098 at Jesus’G2424 feetG4228, and began urgingG3870 Him to comeG1525 to his houseG3624; 42for he hadG1510 an onlyG3439 daughterG2364, aboutG5613 twelveG1427 yearsG2094 old, and she was dyingG599. But as He wentG5217, the crowdsG3793 were pressingG4846 againstG4846 Him.
43And a womanG1135 who had sufferedG1510G1722 a chronic flowG4511 of bloodG129 for twelveG1427 yearsG2094, and couldG2480 not be healedG2323 by anyoneG3762, 44cameG4334 upG4334 behindG3693 Him and touchedG681 the fringeG2899 of His 55cloakG2440, and immediatelyG3916 her bleedingG4511G129 stoppedG2476. 45And JesusG2424 saidG3004, “WhoG5101 is the one who touchedG681 Me?” And while they were allG3956 denyingG720 it, PeterG4074 saidG3004, “56MasterG1988, the 57peopleG3793 are crowdingG4912 and pressingG598 in on You.” 46But JesusG2424 saidG3004, “SomeoneG5100 did touchG681 Me, for I was awareG1097 that 58powerG1411 had leftG1831 Me.” 47NowG1161 when the womanG1135 sawG3708 that she had not escapedG2990 noticeG2990, she cameG2064 tremblingG5141 and fellG4363 downG4363 beforeG4363 Him, and admittedG518 inG1799 theG1799 presenceG1799 ofG1799 allG3956 the peopleG2992 the reasonG156 whyG1223G3739 she had touchedG681 Him, and howG5613 she had been immediatelyG3916 healedG2390. 48And He saidG3004 to her, “DaughterG2364, 59your faithG4102 has 60madeG4982 you wellG4982; 61goG4198 in peaceG1515.”
49While He was stillG2089 speakingG2980, someoneG5100 cameG2064 from the house of 62the synagogueG752 officialG752, sayingG3004, “Your daughterG2364 has diedG2348; do not troubleG4660 the TeacherG1320 anymoreG3371.” 50But when JesusG2424 heardG191 this, He respondedG611 to him, “63Do not beG5399 afraidG5399 any longer; onlyG3440 believeG4100, and she will be 64madeG4982 wellG4982.” 51When He cameG2064 to the houseG3614, He did not allowG863 anyoneG5100 to enterG1525 with Him exceptG1508 PeterG4074, JohnG2491, and JamesG2385, and the girl’sG3816 fatherG3962 and motherG3384. 52NowG1161 they were allG3956 weepingG2799 and 65mourningG2875 for her; but He saidG3004, “StopG3361 weepingG2799, for she has not diedG599, but 66isG2518 asleepG2518.” 53And they began laughingG2606 atG2606 Him, knowingG3609 that she had diedG599. 54He, howeverG1161, tookG2902 her by the handG5495 and spokeG5455 67forcefullyG5455, sayingG3004, “ChildG3816, ariseG1453!” 55And her spiritG4151 returnedG1994, and she gotG450 upG450 immediatelyG3916; and He orderedG1299 that something be givenG1325 her to eatG2068. 56Her parentsG1118 were amazedG1839; but He 68instructedG3853 them to tellG3004 noG3367 oneG3367 what had happenedG1096.
