The Resurrection
11But on the firstG1520 day of the weekG4521, at earlyG901 dawnG3722, they cameG2064 to the tombG3418 bringingG5342 the spicesG759 whichG3739 they had preparedG2090. 2And they foundG2147 the stoneG3037 rolledG617 awayG617 from the tombG3419, 3but when they enteredG1525, they did not findG2147 the bodyG4983 of 2the LordG2962 JesusG2424. 4WhileG1722 they were perplexedG639 aboutG4012 thisG3778, beholdG2400, 3twoG1417 menG435 suddenly 4stoodG2186 nearG2186 them in gleamingG797 clothingG2066; 5and as 5the women were terrifiedG1719 and bowedG2827 their facesG4383 to the groundG1093, the men saidG3004 to them, “WhyG5101 are you seekingG2212 the livingG2198 One amongG3326 the deadG3498? 6He is not hereG5602, but He 6has 7risenG1453. RememberG3403 howG5613 He spokeG2980 to you 8while He was stillG2089 in GalileeG1056, 7sayingG3004 that 9the SonG5207 of ManG444 mustG1163 be handedG3860G5495 overG3860 to sinfulG268 menG444, and be crucifiedG4717, and on the thirdG5154 dayG2250 riseG450 from the dead.” 8And 10they rememberedG3403 His wordsG4487, 9and returnedG5290 from the tombG3419 and reportedG518 allG3956 theseG3778 thingsG3778 to the elevenG1733, and to allG3956 the restG3062. 10NowG1161 these women were 11MaryG3137 MagdaleneG3094, JoannaG2489, and MaryG3137 the mother of JamesG2385; alsoG2532 the otherG3062 womenG3062 with them were tellingG3004 theseG3778 thingsG3778 to 12the apostlesG652. 11But theseG3778 wordsG4487 appearedG5316 13to them as nonsenseG3026, and they 14would notG569 believeG569 15the women. 12NeverthelessG1161, PeterG4074 gotG450 upG450 and 16ranG5143 to the tombG3419; and when he stoopedG3879 andG3879 lookedG3879 in, he sawG991 the linenG3608 wrappingsG3608 17onlyG3441; and he wentG565 awayG565 18to his 19homeG848, marvelingG2296 at whatG3588 had happenedG1096.
The Road to Emmaus
13And beholdG2400, on that veryG846 dayG2250 20twoG1417 of them were goingG4198 to a villageG2968 namedG3686 EmmausG1695, which was 21sixtyG1835 stadiaG4712 from JerusalemG2419. 14And they were talkingG3656 with eachG240 otherG240 aboutG4012 allG3956 theseG3778 thingsG3778 which had takenG4819 placeG4819. 15WhileG1722 they were talkingG3656 and discussingG4802, JesusG2424 HimselfG846 approachedG1448 and began travelingG4848 with them. 16But 22their eyesG3788 were keptG2902 from recognizingG1921 Him. 17And He saidG3004 to them, “WhatG5101 are theseG3778 wordsG3056 that you are exchangingG474 with oneG240 anotherG240 as you are walkingG4043?” And they cameG2476 toG2476 aG2476 stopG2476, lookingG4659 sadG4659. 18OneG1520 of them, namedG3686 CleopasG2810, answeredG611 and saidG3004 to Him, “Are You possibly the onlyG3441 oneG3441 livingG3939 nearG3939 JerusalemG2419 23who does not knowG1097 about the things that happenedG1096 hereG1722G846 in theseG3778 daysG2250?” 19And He saidG3004 to them, “WhatG4169 sortG4169 ofG4169 thingsG4169?” And they saidG3004 to Him, “ThoseG3588 aboutG4012 24JesusG2424 the NazareneG3479, whoG3739 provedG1096 to be a 25prophetG4396 mightyG1415 in deedG2041 and wordG3056 inG1726 theG1726 sightG1726 of GodG2316 and allG3956 the peopleG2992, 20and howG3704 the chiefG749 priestsG749 and our 26rulersG758 handedG3860 Him overG3860 to be sentencedG2917 to deathG2288, and crucifiedG4717 Him. 21But we 27were hopingG1679 that it was He who wasG3195 goingG3195 toG3195 28redeemG3084 IsraelG2474. IndeedG235, besidesG2532G4862 allG3956 thisG3778, it is now the thirdG5154 dayG2250 sinceG575G3739 theseG3778 thingsG3778 happenedG1096. 22But alsoG2532 someG5100 womenG1135 amongG1537 us leftG1839 us bewilderedG1839. 29When they were at the tombG3419 earlyG3720 inG3720 theG3720 morningG3720, 23and did not findG2147 His bodyG4983, they cameG2064, sayingG3004 that they had alsoG2532 seenG3708 a visionG3701 of angelsG32 whoG3739 saidG3004 that He wasG2198 aliveG2198. 24And so someG5100 of thoseG3588 who were with us wentG565 to the tombG3419, and foundG2147 it justG2531 exactlyG3779 asG2531 the womenG1135 alsoG2532 had saidG3004; but Him they did not seeG3708.” 25And then He saidG3004 to them, “30You foolishG453 menG453 and slowG1021 of heartG2588 to believeG4100 in allG3956 that 31the prophetsG4396 have spokenG2980! 2632Was it not necessaryG1163 for the 33ChristG5547 to sufferG3958 theseG3778 thingsG3778 and to comeG1525 intoG1525 His gloryG1391?” 27ThenG2532 beginningG757 34with 35MosesG3475 and 36with allG3956 the 37ProphetsG4396, He explainedG1329 to them the things written aboutG4012 HimselfG1438 in allG3956 the ScripturesG1124.
28And they approachedG1448 the villageG2968 whereG3757 they were goingG4198, and 38He gaveG4364 theG4364 impressionG4364 that He was goingG4198 fartherG4206. 29And so they stronglyG3849 urgedG3849 Him, sayingG3004, “StayG3306 with us, for it is getting towardG4314 eveningG2073, and the dayG2250 39is nowG2235 nearlyG2827 overG2827.” SoG2532 He wentG1525 inG1525 to stayG3306 with them. 30And it cameG1096 aboutG1096, whenG1722 He had reclinedG2625 at the table with them, that He tookG2983 the breadG740 and 40blessedG2127 it, and He brokeG2806 it and began givingG1929 it to them. 31And then their 41eyesG3788 were openedG1272 and they recognizedG1921 Him; and He vanishedG855 from 42their sightG846. 32They saidG3004 to oneG240 anotherG240, “43Were our heartsG2588 not burningG2545 withinG1722 us whenG5613 He was speakingG2980 to us on the roadG3598, whileG5613 He 44was 45explainingG1272 the ScripturesG1124 to us?” 33And they gotG450 upG450 that veryG846 hourG5610 and returnedG5290 to JerusalemG2419, and 46foundG2147 the elevenG1733 gatheredG120 togetherG120 and 47thoseG3588 whoG3588 were with them, 34sayingG3004, “48The LordG2962 has reallyG3689 risenG1453 and 49has appearedG3708 to SimonG4613!” 35They began to relateG1834 50their experiencesG3588 on the roadG3598, and howG5613 51He was recognizedG1097 by them at the breakingG2800 of the breadG740.
Other Appearances
36NowG1161 while they were tellingG2980 theseG3778 thingsG3778, 52Jesus HimselfG846 suddenly stoodG2476 in their midstG3319 and saidG3004 to them, “PeaceG1515 be to you.” 37But they were startledG4422 and frightenedG1719, and thoughtG1380 that they were lookingG2334 at 53a spiritG4151. 38And He saidG3004 to them, “WhyG5101 are you frightenedG5015, and whyG1223G5101 are doubtsG1261 arisingG305 in your 54heartsG2588? 3955SeeG3708 My handsG5495 and My feetG4228, that 56it is I MyselfG846; 57touchG5584 Me and seeG3708, becauseG3754 a spiritG4151 does not haveG2192 fleshG4561 and bonesG3747 as you plainly seeG2334 that I haveG2192.” 40And when He had saidG3004 thisG3778, He showedG1166 them His handsG5495 and His feetG4228. 41While they stillG2089 5859could notG569 believeG569 it becauseG575 of their joyG5479 and astonishmentG2296, He saidG3004 to them, “60HaveG2192 you anythingG5100 hereG1759 toG1034 eatG1034?” 42They servedG1929 Him a pieceG3313 of broiledG3702 fishG2486; 43and He tookG2983 it and 61ateG2068 it inG1799 frontG1799 ofG1799 them.
44NowG1161 He saidG3004 to them, “62TheseG3778 are My wordsG3056 whichG3739 I spokeG2980 to you while I was stillG2089 with you, that allG3956 the thingsG3956 that are writtenG1125 aboutG4012 Me in the 63LawG3551 of MosesG3475 and the ProphetsG4396 and 64the PsalmsG5568 mustG1163 be fulfilledG4137.” 45ThenG5119 He 65openedG1272 their 66mindsG3563 to understandG4920 the ScripturesG1124, 46and He saidG3004 to them, “67SoG3779 it is writtenG1125, that the 68ChristG5547 would sufferG3958 and 69riseG450 from the deadG3498 on the thirdG5154 dayG2250, 47and that 70repentanceG3341 71for forgivenessG859 of sinsG266 would be proclaimedG2784 72in His nameG3686 to 73allG3956 the nationsG1484, beginningG757 from JerusalemG2419. 48You are 74witnessesG3144 of theseG3778 thingsG3778. 49And beholdG2400, 75I am sendingG1821 the promiseG1860 of My FatherG3962 upon you; but 76you are to stayG2523 in the cityG4172 untilG2193 you are clothedG1746 with powerG1411 from on highG5311.”
The Ascension
50And He ledG1806 them outG1806 asG2193 farG2193 asG2193 77BethanyG963, and He liftedG1869 upG1869 His handsG5495 and blessedG2127 them. 51WhileG1722 He was blessingG2127 them, He partedG1339 from them and was carriedG399 upG399 into heavenG3772. 52And they, after worshipingG4352 Him, returnedG5290 to JerusalemG2419 with greatG3173 joyG5479, 53and were continuallyG1223G3956 in the templeG2413 78praisingG2127 GodG2316.
