The Young Shulammite Bride and Jerusalem’s Daughters

11

The Bride

The 2SongH7892 of 3SongsH7892, whichH834 is Solomon’sH8010.

2“May he kissH5401 me with the kissesH5390 of his mouthH6310! For your 4loveH1730 is 5sweeterH2896H4480 thanH4480 wineH3196.3Your 6oilsH8081 have a pleasingH2896 fragranceH7381, Your 7nameH8034 is like 8purifiedH7385 oilH8081; ThereforeH5921H3651 the 910youngH5959 womenH5959 loveH157 you.

The Bride

4DrawH4900 me afterH310 you and let’s runH7323 together! The 11kingH4428 has broughtH935 me into his chambersH2315.” The Chorus “We will rejoiceH1523 in you and beH8055 joyfulH8055; We will praiseH2142 your 12loveH1730 moreH4480 thanH4480 wineH3196. RightlyH4339 do they loveH157 you.”

5“I am blackH7838 and 13beautifulH5000, You 14daughtersH1323 of JerusalemH3389, Like the 15tentsH168 of 16KedarH6938, Like the curtainsH3407 of SolomonH8010.6Do not stareH7200 at me because I am 17darkH7840, For the sunH8121 has tannedH7805 me. My 18mother’sH517 sonsH1121 wereH2734 angryH2734 with me; They madeH7760 me 19caretakerH5201 of the vineyardsH3754, But I have not takenH5201 careH5201 of my own vineyardH3754.7TellH5046 me, you 20whomH7945 my soulH5315 lovesH157, WhereH351 do you 21pastureH7462 your flock, WhereH351 do you have it 22lieH7257 downH7257 at noonH6672? For whyH4100 should I be like one who 23veilsH5844 herself BesideH5921 the flocksH5739 of your 24companionsH2270?”

Solomon, the Lover, Speaks

8“IfH518 you yourself do not knowH3045, 25Most beautifulH3303 among womenH802, GoH3318 outH3318 on the trailH6119 of the flockH6629, And pastureH7462 your youngH1429 goatsH1429 By the tentsH4908 of the shepherdsH7462.

9“26To me, 27my darlingH7474, you areH1819 likeH1819 My 28mareH5484 among the chariotsH7393 of PharaohH6547.

The Chorus

10Your 29cheeksH3895 are delightfulH4998 with jewelryH8447, Your neckH6677 with stringsH2737 ofH2737 30beadsH2737.”

The Bride

11“We will makeH6213 for you jewelryH8447 of goldH2091 With beadsH5351 of silverH3701.”

12“WhileH5704 the kingH4428 was at his tableH4524, My 3132perfumeH5373 gaveH5414 forth its fragranceH7381.13My belovedH1730 is to me a pouchH6872 of 33myrrhH4753 Which liesH3885 allH3885 nightH3885 betweenH996 my breastsH7699.

The Groom

14My belovedH1730 is to me a clusterH811 of 34hennaH3724 blossoms In the vineyardsH3754 of 35EngediH5872.”
