New American Standard Bible 2020

Rebellion of God’s People

1The visionH2377 of IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 concerningH5921 1JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389, whichH834 he sawH2372 during the 2reignsH3117 of 3UzziahH5818, 4JothamH3147, 5AhazH271, and 6HezekiahH2396, kingsH4428 of JudahH3063.27ListenH8085, heavensH8064, and hearH238, 8earthH776; For the LordH3068 has spokenH1696: “9SonsH1121 I have raisedH1431 and broughtH7311 upH7311, But they have 10revoltedH6586 against Me.3An oxH7794 knowsH3045 its ownerH7069, And a donkeyH2543 its master’sH1167 mangerH18, But IsraelH3478 11does not knowH3045, My peopleH5971 12do not understandH995.”

4OhH1945, sinfulH2398 nationH1471, PeopleH5971 weighedH3515 downH3515 with guiltH5771, 1314OffspringH2233 of evildoersH7489, SonsH1121 who 15actH7843 corruptlyH7843! They have 16abandonedH5800 the LordH3068, They have 17despisedH5006 the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478, They have turnedH2114 awayH2114 18from Him.

5WhereH5921H4100 will you be strickenH5221 againH5750, As you 19continueH3254 in your rebellionH5627? The entireH3605 headH7218 is 20sickH2483 And the entireH3605 heartH3824 is faintH1742.621From the soleH3709 of the footH7272 even to the headH7218 ThereH369 isH369 22nothingH369 healthyH4974 in it, Only bruisesH6482, slashesH2250, and rawH2961 woundsH4347; 23Not pressedH2115 outH2115 norH3808 bandagedH2280, NorH3808 softenedH7401 with oilH8081.

7Your 24landH776 is desolateH8077, Your citiesH5892 are burnedH8313 with fireH784; As for your fieldsH127, strangersH2114 are devouringH398 them in frontH5048 of you; It is desolationH8077, as overthrownH4114 by strangersH2114.8The daughterH1323 of ZionH6726 is leftH3498 like a shelterH5521 in a vineyardH3754, Like a watchman’sH4412 hutH4412 in a cucumberH4750 fieldH4750, like a cityH5892 underH5341 watchH5341.925IfH3884 the LordH3068 of armiesH6635 Had not leftH3498 us a fewH4592 26survivorsH8300, We would be like 27SodomH5467, We would beH1819 likeH1819 GomorrahH6017.

God Has Had Enough

10HearH8085 28the wordH1697 of the LordH3068, You rulersH7101 of 29SodomH5467; ListenH238 to the instructionH8451 of our GodH430, You peopleH5971 of GomorrahH6017!11“30WhatH4100 are your manyH7230 sacrificesH2077 to Me?” SaysH559 the LordH3068. “I 31have hadH7646 enoughH7646 of burntH5930 offeringsH5930 of ramsH352 And the fatH2459 of fattenedH4806 cattleH4806; And I takeH2654 noH3808 pleasureH2654 in the bloodH1818 of bullsH6499, lambsH3532, or goatsH6260.12WhenH3588 you comeH935 32to appearH7200 beforeH6440 Me, WhoH4310 requiresH1245 33of you thisH2088 tramplingH7429 of My courtyardsH2691?13Do not goH3254 onH3254 bringingH935 your worthlessH7723 offeringsH4503, 34IncenseH7004 is an abominationH8441 to Me. 35NewH2320 moonH2320 and SabbathH7676, the 36proclamationH7121 of an assemblyH4744-- I cannotH3808 37endureH3201 wrongdoingH205 and the festiveH6116 assemblyH6116.1438I hateH8130 your newH2320 moonH2320 festivals and your 39appointedH4150 feastsH4150, They have becomeH1961 a burdenH2960 to Me; I amH3811 40tiredH3811 of bearingH5375 them.15So when you 41spreadH6566 outH6566 your handsH3709 in prayer, 42I will hideH5956 My eyesH5869 from you; YesH1571, evenH3588 thoughH3588 you 43offerH7235 manyH7235 prayersH8605, I will not be listeningH8085. 44Your handsH3027 are 45coveredH4390 with bloodH1818.

16“46WashH7364 yourselves, 47makeH2135 yourselves cleanH2135; 48RemoveH5493 the evilH7455 of your deedsH4611 from My sightH5048H5869. 49StopH2308 doingH7489 evilH7489,17LearnH3925 to doH3190 goodH3190; 50SeekH1875 justiceH4941, RebukeH833 the oppressorH2541, 51ObtainH8199 justiceH8199 for the orphanH3490, PleadH7378 for the widow’sH490 caseH490.

Invitation to Debate

18“ComeH1980 nowH4994, and 52let us 53debateH3198 your case,” SaysH559 the LordH3068, “54ThoughH518 your sinsH2399 are as scarletH8144, They shall become as whiteH3835 as snowH7950; ThoughH518 they are redH119 like crimsonH8438, They shall be like woolH6785.1955IfH518 you areH14 willingH14 and obedientH8085, You will 56eatH398 the bestH2898 of the landH776;20But ifH518 you refuseH3985 and rebelH4784, You will be 57devouredH398 by the swordH2719.” For 58the mouthH6310 of the LordH3068 has spokenH1696.

Zion Corrupted; Will Be Redeemed

21HowH351 the faithfulH539 cityH7151 has becomeH1961 a 59prostituteH2181, She who was fullH4392 of justiceH4941! RighteousnessH6664 once dweltH3885 in her, But nowH6258 murderersH7523.22Your silverH3701 has becomeH1961 60wasteH5509 matterH5509, Your drinkH5435 dilutedH4107 with waterH4325.23Your 61rulersH8269 are rebelsH5637 And companionsH2270 of thievesH1590; EveryoneH3605 62lovesH157 a bribeH7810 And chasesH7291 after giftsH8021. They 63do not obtainH8199 justiceH8199 for the 64orphanH3490, NorH3808 does the widow’sH490 caseH7379 comeH935 beforeH413 them.

24ThereforeH3651 the LordH136 65GodH3068 of armiesH6635, The 66MightyH46 OneH46 of IsraelH3478, declaresH5002, “AhH1945, I will haveH5162 satisfactionH5162 againstH4480 My adversariesH6862, And 67avengeH5358 Myself on My enemiesH340.25I will also turnH7725 My handH3027 againstH5921 you, And 68smeltH6884 awayH6884 your impuritiesH5509 as with lyeH1253; And I will removeH5493 allH3605 your slagH913.26Then I will restoreH7725 your 69judgesH8199 as at firstH7223, And your counselorsH3289 as at the beginningH8462; AfterH310 that you will be calledH7121 the 70cityH5892 of righteousnessH6664, A faithfulH539 cityH7151.”

27ZionH6726 will be 71redeemedH6299 with justiceH4941 And her 72repentantH7725 ones with righteousnessH6666.28But 73wrongdoersH6586 and sinnersH2400 togetherH3164 will be 74brokenH7667, And those who abandonH5800 the LordH3068 will comeH3615 toH3615 anH3615 endH3615.2975You certainlyH3588 will beH954 ashamedH954 of the 7677oaksH352 whichH834 you have desiredH2530, And you will be embarrassedH2659 by the 78gardensH1593 whichH834 you have chosenH977.30For you will be like an 79oakH424 whose 80leafH5929 withersH5034 awayH5034, Or like a gardenH1593 that hasH369 noH369 waterH4325.31The strongH2634 manH2634 will becomeH1961 like 81flaxH5296 fiberH5296, And his workH6467 a sparkH5213. So they shall bothH8147 82burnH1197 togetherH3164 And thereH369 willH369 beH369 83noH369 oneH369 to extinguishH3518 them.
