The Sorrows of Zion
1HowH351 1lonelyH910 sitsH3427 the cityH5892 That once had 2manyH7227 peopleH5971! She has becomeH1961 like a 3widowH490 Who was once 4greatH7227 among the nationsH1471! She who was a princessH8282 among the 5provincesH4082 Has becomeH1961 a 6forcedH4522 laborerH4522!2She 7weepsH1058 bitterlyH1058 in the nightH3915, And her tearsH1832 are on her cheeksH3895; She hasH369 noH369 oneH369 to comfortH5162 her AmongH4480 allH3605 her 8loversH157. AllH3605 her friendsH7453 have 9dealtH898 treacherouslyH898 with her; They have becomeH1961 her enemiesH340.310JudahH3063 has goneH1540 intoH1540 exileH1540 outH4480 of afflictionH6040 And 11harshH7230 servitudeH5656; She livesH3427 12among the nationsH1471, But she has not foundH4672 a restingH4494 placeH4494; AllH3605 those who 13pursuedH7291 her have overtakenH5381 her In the midstH996 of 14distressH4712.4The roadsH1870 15of ZionH6726 are in mourningH57 BecauseH4480H1097 16noH1097 one comesH935 to an appointedH4150 feastH4150. AllH3605 her gatesH8179 are 17desertedH8074; Her priestsH3548 groanH584, Her 18virginsH1330 are worriedH3013, And as for Zion herselfH1931, it isH4843 19bitterH4843 for her.5Her adversariesH6862 have becomeH1961 20her mastersH7218, Her enemiesH340 areH7951 21secureH7951; For the LordH3068 has 2223causedH3013 her griefH3013 BecauseH5921 of the multitudeH7230 of her wrongdoingsH6588; Her littleH5768 onesH5768 have goneH1980 away As captivesH7628 24ledH6440 by the enemyH6862.6AllH3605 of her 25splendorH1926 Is goneH3318 from the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726; Her leadersH8269 have becomeH1961 like deerH354 That have foundH4672 noH3808 pastureH4829, And they have 2627fledH1980 withoutH3808 strengthH3581 28From the pursuerH7291.7In the daysH3117 of her afflictionH6040 and homelessnessH4788 29JerusalemH3389 remembersH2142 allH3605 her treasuresH4262 That were hers sinceH4480 the daysH3117 of oldH6924, When her peopleH5971 fellH5307 into the handH3027 of the adversaryH6862 And 30noH369 oneH369 helpedH5826 her. The adversariesH6862 sawH7200 her, They 31laughedH7832 at her 32ruinH4868.8JerusalemH3389 sinnedH2398 33greatlyH2399, ThereforeH5921H3651 34she has becomeH1961 an 35objectH5206 ofH5206 ridiculeH5206. AllH3605 who honoredH3513 her despiseH2151 her BecauseH3588 they have seenH7200 her nakednessH6172; EvenH1571 36she herselfH1931 groansH584 and turnsH7725 awayH268.9Her 37uncleannessH2932 was in her garment’s seamsH7757; She 38did not thinkH2142 of her 39futureH319. So she has 4041fallenH3381 in an astonishingH6382 wayH6382; 42She hasH369 noH369 comforterH5162. “43SeeH7200, LordH3068, my afflictionH6040, For the enemyH340 has 4445honoredH1431 himself!”10The adversaryH6862 has stretchedH6566 outH6566 his handH3027 OverH5921 allH3605 her preciousH4261 thingsH4261, For she has seenH7200 the 46nationsH1471 enterH935 her sanctuaryH4720, The ones whomH834 You commandedH6680 That they were 47not to enterH935 Your congregationH6951.11AllH3605 her peopleH5971 groanH584, 48seekingH1245 breadH3899; They have givenH5414 their treasuresH4262 for foodH400 To 49restoreH7725 their 50livesH5315. “SeeH7200, LordH3068, and lookH5027, For I amH1961 51despisedH2151.”12“Is it 52nothingH3808 to allH3605 you who passH5674 this wayH1870? LookH5027 and seeH7200 ifH518 thereH3426 isH3426 any painH4341 like my painH4341 WhichH834 was inflictedH5953 on me, With whichH834 the 53LordH3068 tormentedH3013 me on the dayH3117 of His 54fierceH2740 angerH639.13From 55the heightH4791 He sentH7971 fireH784 into my 56bonesH6106, And it dominatedH7287 them. He has spreadH6566 a 57netH7568 for my feetH7272; He has turnedH7725 me backH268; He has madeH5414 me 58desolateH8074, 59FaintH1739 allH3605 dayH3117 long.14The 60yokeH5923 of my wrongdoingsH6588 is boundH8244; By His handH3027 they are wovenH8276 togetherH8276. They have 61comeH5927 upon my neckH6677; He has made my strengthH3581 62failH3782. The LordH136 63has handedH5414H3027 me overH5414 To those against whom I amH3201 not ableH3201 to standH6965.15The 64LordH136 has thrownH5541 awayH5541 allH3605 my strongH47 menH47 In my midstH7130; He has calledH7121 an appointedH4150 65timeH4150 againstH5921 me To crushH7665 my 66youngH970 menH970; The LordH136 has 67troddenH1869 as in a wineH1660 pressH1660 The virginH1330 daughterH1323 of JudahH3063.16For theseH428 thingsH428 I 68weepH1058; 69My eyesH5869 runH3381 downH3381 with waterH4325; BecauseH3588 farH7368 from me isH7368 a 70comforterH5162, One to restoreH7725 my soulH5315. My childrenH1121 are desolateH8074 BecauseH3588 the enemyH340 has prevailedH1396.”17ZionH6726 71stretchesH6566 outH6566 with her handsH3027; ThereH369 isH369 noH369 oneH369 to comfortH5162 her; The LordH3068 has 72commandedH6680 regarding JacobH3290 That those aroundH5439 him become his adversariesH6862; 73JerusalemH3389 has becomeH1961 a filthyH5079 thingH5079 amongH996 them.18“The LordH3068 is 74righteousH6662, For I have 75rebelledH4784 againstH854 His 76commandH6310; HearH8085 nowH4994, allH3605 peoplesH5971, And 77seeH7200 my painH4341; 78My virginsH1330 and my youngH970 menH970 Have goneH1980 into captivityH7628.19I 79calledH7121 to my loversH157, but they desertedH7411 me; My 80priestsH3548 and my eldersH2205 perishedH1478 in the cityH5892 WhileH3588 they soughtH1245 foodH400 to 81restoreH7725 their 82strengthH5315 themselves.20SeeH7200, LordH3068, for I amH6887 inH6887 distressH6887; My 8384spiritH4578 is greatlyH2560 troubledH2560; My heartH3820 is overturnedH2015 withinH7130 me, For I have been veryH4784 85rebelliousH4784. In the streetH2351 the swordH2719 has madeH7921 women childlessH7921; In the houseH1004 it is like deathH4194.21They have heardH8085 that I 86groanH584; ThereH369 isH369 noH369 oneH369 to comfortH5162 me, AllH3605 my enemiesH340 have heardH8085 of my disasterH7463; They are 87joyfulH7797 that You have doneH6213 it. Oh, that You would bringH935 the dayH3117 which You have proclaimedH7121, So that they will becomeH1961 88likeH3644 me.22May allH3605 their wickednessH7463 comeH935 beforeH6440 You; And 89dealH5953 with them justH3512 asH3512 You have dealtH5953 with me For allH3605 my wrongdoingsH6588. For my groansH585 are manyH7227 and my heartH3820 is faintH1742.”
