Call to Repent

1NowG1161 on that veryG846 occasionG2540 there were someG5100 presentG3918 who reportedG518 to Him aboutG4012 the GalileansG1057 whoseG3739 bloodG129 1PilateG4091 had 2mixedG3396 with their sacrificesG2378. 2And Jesus respondedG611 and saidG3004 to them, “3Do you thinkG1380 that theseG3778 GalileansG1057 were worse sinnersG268 thanG3844 allG3956 the other GalileansG1057 just becauseG3754 they have sufferedG3958 thisG3778 fate? 3NoG3780, I tellG3004 you, but unlessG1437G3361 you 4repentG3340, you will allG3956 likewiseG3668 perishG622. 4OrG2228 do you thinkG1380 that thoseG1565 eighteenG1178 on whomG3739 the towerG4444 in 5SiloamG4611 fellG4098 and killedG615 them were worse 67offendersG3781 thanG3844 allG3956 the other peopleG444 who liveG2730 in JerusalemG2419? 5NoG3780, I tellG3004 you, but unlessG1437G3361 you repentG3340, you will allG3956 likewiseG5615 perishG622.”

6And He began tellingG3004 thisG3778 parableG3850: “A manG5100 hadG2192 8a figG4808 treeG4808 which had been plantedG5452 in his vineyardG290; and he cameG2064 lookingG2212 forG2212 fruitG2590 on it and did not findG2147 any. 7And he saidG3004 to the vineyard-keeperG289, ‘LookG2400! For threeG5140 yearsG2094 I have comeG2064 lookingG2212 forG2212 fruitG2590 on thisG3778 figG4808 treeG4808 9withoutG2532G3756 findingG2147 any. 10CutG1581 it downG1581! WhyG2444 does it evenG2532 useG2673 upG2673 the groundG1093?’ 8But he answeredG611 and saidG3004 to him, ‘SirG2962, leaveG863 it aloneG863 for thisG3778 yearG2094 tooG2532, untilG2193 I digG4626 aroundG4012 it and putG906 in fertilizerG2874; 9and ifG2579 it bearsG4160 fruitG2590 nextG1519G3195 year, fine; but ifG1487 not, cutG1581 it downG1581.’”

Healing on the Sabbath

10NowG1161 Jesus was 11teachingG1321 in oneG1520 of the synagoguesG4864 on the SabbathG4521. 11And 12thereG2400 was a womanG1135 who for eighteenG1178 yearsG2094 had hadG2192 13a 14sicknessG769 caused by a spiritG4151; and she was bentG4794 overG4794 doubleG4794, and couldG1410 not straightenG352 upG352 atG3838 allG3838. 12When JesusG2424 sawG3708 her, He calledG4377 her overG4377 and saidG3004 to her, “WomanG1135, you are freedG630 from your sicknessG769.” 13And He 15laidG2007 His handsG5495 onG2007 her; and immediatelyG3916 she stoodG461 upG461 straightG461 againG461, and began 16glorifyingG1392 GodG2316. 14But 17the synagogueG752 leaderG752, indignantG23 becauseG3754 JesusG2424 18had healedG2323 on the SabbathG4521, began sayingG3004 to the crowdG3793 inG611 responseG611, “19There are sixG1803 daysG2250 duringG1722 whichG3739 workG2038 shouldG1163 be doneG2038; soG3767 comeG2064 duringG1722 them and getG2323 healedG2323, and not on the SabbathG4521 dayG2250.” 15But 20the LordG2962 answeredG611 him and saidG3004, “You hypocritesG5273, 21does eachG1538 of you on the SabbathG4521 not untieG3089 his oxG1016 orG2228 donkeyG3688 from the stallG5336 and leadG520 it awayG520 to waterG4222 it? 16And thisG3778 womanG3778, 22a daughterG2364 of AbrahamG11 as she is, whomG3739 23SatanG4567 has boundG1210 for 24eighteenG1176G3638 longG2400 yearsG2094, shouldG1163 she not have been releasedG3089 from thisG3778 restraintG1199 on the SabbathG4521 dayG2250?” 17And as He saidG3004 thisG3778, allG3956 His opponentsG480 were being 25humiliatedG2617; and 26the entireG3956 crowdG3793 was rejoicingG5463 overG1909 allG3956 the gloriousG1741 thingsG1741 beingG1096 doneG1096 by Him.

Parables of Mustard Seed and Leaven

18SoG3767 27He was sayingG3004, “28WhatG5101 is the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 likeG3664, and to whatG5101 shall I compareG3666 it? 19It is likeG3664 a mustardG4615 seedG2848, whichG3739 a manG444 tookG2983 and threwG906 into his ownG1438 gardenG2779; and it grewG837 and becameG1096 a treeG1186, and 29the birdsG4071 of the skyG3772 nestedG2681 in its branchesG2798.”

20And againG3825 He saidG3004, “30To whatG5101 shall I compareG3666 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316? 2131It is likeG3664 32leavenG2219, whichG3739 a womanG1135 tookG2983 and hidG2928 in 33threeG5140 34sataG4568 of flourG224 untilG2193 it was allG3650 leavenedG2220.”

Teaching in the Villages

22And He was passingG1279 throughG1279 one cityG4172 and villageG2968 afterG2596 anotherG2596, teachingG1321, and 35proceedingG4160 on His wayG4197 to JerusalemG2414. 23And someoneG5100 saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, are there just a fewG3641 who are being savedG4982?” And He saidG3004 to them, 24“36StriveG75 to enterG1525 throughG1223 the narrowG4728 doorG2374; for manyG4183, I tellG3004 you, will seekG2212 to enterG1525 and will not beG2480 ableG2480. 25OnceG575G3739 the headG3617 ofG3617 theG3617 houseG3617 getsG1453 upG1453 and 37shutsG608 the doorG2374, and you beginG757 standingG2476 outsideG1854 and knockingG2925 on the doorG2374, sayingG3004, ‘38LordG2962, openG455 upG455 to us!’ and He then will answerG611 and sayG3004 to you, ‘39I do not knowG3609 whereG4159 you are from.’ 26ThenG5119 you will 40beginG757 sayingG3004, ‘We ateG2068 and drankG4095 inG1799 Your presenceG1799, and You taughtG1321 in our streetsG4116!’ 27And yet He will 41sayG3004, ‘42I do not knowG3609 whereG4159 you are from; 43leaveG868 Me, allG3956 you 44evildoersG2040G93.’ 2845In that placeG1563 thereG1510 will be weepingG2805 and gnashingG1030 of teethG3599 whenG3752 you seeG3708 AbrahamG11, IsaacG2464, JacobG2384, and allG3956 the prophetsG4396 in the kingdomG932 of GodG2316, but yourselvesG4771 being thrownG1544 outG1544. 29And they 46will comeG2240 from eastG395 and westG1424, and from northG1005 and southG3558, and will reclineG347 at the table in the kingdomG932 of GodG2316. 30And beholdG2400, 47some are lastG2078 whoG3739 will be firstG4413, and some are firstG4413 whoG3739 will be lastG2078.”

31At that veryG846 timeG5610 someG5100 PhariseesG5330 approachedG4334, sayingG3004 to Him, “GoG1831 awayG1831 and leaveG4198G1782 thisG1782 placeG1782, becauseG3754 48HerodG2264 wantsG2309 to killG615 You.” 32And He saidG3004 to them, “GoG4198 and tellG3004 that 49foxG258, ‘BeholdG2400, I am castingG1544 outG1544 demonsG1140 and performingG658 healingsG2392 todayG4594 and tomorrowG839, and on the thirdG5154 day I 5051reachG5048 My goalG5048.’ 33NeverthelessG4133 52I mustG1163 goG4198 on My journeyG4198 todayG4594 and tomorrowG839 and the nextG2192 day; for it cannotG1735G3756 beG1735 that a 53prophetG4396 would perishG622 outsideG1854 JerusalemG2419. 3454JerusalemG2419, JerusalemG2419, the city that killsG615 the prophetsG4396 and stonesG3036 thoseG3588 who have been sentG649 to her! HowG4212 oftenG4212 I wantedG2309 to gatherG1996 your childrenG5043 togetherG1996, 55justG3739G5158 as a henG3733 gathers her 56youngG3555 underG5259 her wingsG4420, and you were unwillingG3756G2309! 35BeholdG2400, your houseG3624 is leftG863 to you desolate; and I sayG3004 to you, you will not seeG3708 Me untilG2193 you sayG3004, ‘57BlessedG2127 is the One who comesG2064 in the nameG3686 of the LordG2962!’”
