Preparing the Passover
11NowG1161 the FeastG1859 of UnleavenedG106 BreadG106, which is calledG3004 the 2PassoverG3957, was approachingG1448. 2And the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the scribesG1122 3were tryingG2212 toG2212 findG2212 4a wayG4459 to putG337 Him toG337 deathG337, sinceG1063 they wereG5399 afraidG5399 of the peopleG2992.
35And 6SatanG4567 enteredG1525 JudasG2455, the one calledG2564 IscariotG2469, 7who belongedG1510G1537 to the numberG706 of the twelveG1427. 4And he leftG565 and discussedG4814 with the chiefG749 priestsG749 and 8officersG4755 howG4459 he was to betrayG3860 Him to them. 5And they were delightedG5463, and agreedG4934 to giveG1325 him moneyG694. 6And so he consentedG1843, and began lookingG2212 forG2212 a goodG2120 opportunityG2120 to betrayG3860 Him to them 9awayG817 fromG817 the crowdG3793.
710NowG1161 the first dayG2250 of UnleavenedG106 BreadG106 cameG2064, on whichG3739 11the PassoverG3957 lamb hadG1163 to be sacrificedG2380. 8And so Jesus sentG649 12PeterG4074 and JohnG2491, sayingG3004, “GoG4198 and prepareG2090 the PassoverG3957 for us, soG2443 thatG2443 we may eatG2068 it.” 9They saidG3004 to Him, “WhereG4226 do You wantG2309 us to prepareG2090 it?” 10And He saidG3004 to them, “WhenG2400 you have enteredG1525 the cityG4172, a manG444 carryingG941 a pitcherG2765 of waterG5204 will meetG4876 you; followG190 him into the houseG3614 that he entersG1531. 11And you shall sayG3004 to the ownerG3617 of the houseG3614, ‘The TeacherG1320 saysG3004 to you, “WhereG4226 is the guestG2646 roomG2646 in whichG3699 I may eatG2068 the PassoverG3957 with My disciplesG3101?”’ 12And he will showG1166 you a largeG3173, furnishedG4766 upstairsG311 roomG311; prepareG2090 it thereG1563.” 13And they leftG565 and foundG2147 everything justG2531 asG2531 He had toldG3004 them; and they preparedG2090 the PassoverG3957.
The Lord’s Supper
1413WhenG3753 the hourG5610 cameG1096, He reclinedG377 at the table, and 14the apostlesG652 with Him. 15And He saidG3004 to them, “I have eagerlyG1939 desiredG1937 to eatG2068 thisG3778 PassoverG3957 with you beforeG4253 I sufferG3958; 16for I sayG3004 to you, I shall not eatG2068 it again 15untilG2193 it is fulfilledG4137 in the kingdomG932 of GodG2316.” 1716And when He had takenG1209 a cupG4221 and 17givenG2168 thanksG2168, He saidG3004, “TakeG2983 thisG3778 and shareG1266 it amongG1519 yourselvesG1438; 18for 18I sayG3004 to you, I will not drinkG4095 of the fruitG1079 of the vineG288 from nowG3568 on untilG2193 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 comesG2064.” 19And when He had takenG2983 some breadG740 and 19givenG2168 thanksG2168, He brokeG2806 it and gaveG1325 it to them, sayingG3004, “ThisG3778 is My bodyG4983, which is being givenG1325 for you; doG4160 thisG3778 in remembranceG364 of Me.” 20And in the sameG5615 wayG5615 He took the cupG4221 afterG3326 they had eatenG1172, sayingG3004, “ThisG3778 cupG4221, which is 20pouredG1632 outG1632 for you, is the 21newG2537 covenantG1242 in My bloodG129. 2122But beholdG2400, the handG5495 of the one betrayingG3860 Me is with 23MineG1473 on the tableG5132. 22For indeedG3303, the SonG5207 of ManG444 is goingG4198 24as it hasG2192 been determinedG3724; but woeG3759 to that manG444 by whomG3739 He is betrayedG3860!” 23And they beganG757 to debateG4802 amongG4314 themselvesG1438 whichG5101 one of them it was who wasG3195 goingG3195 toG3195 doG4238 thisG3778.
Who Is Greatest
24And 25a disputeG5379 alsoG2532 developedG1096 amongG1722 them as to whichG5101 one of them was regardedG1380 as beingG1510 the greatestG3173. 2526And He saidG3004 to them, “The kingsG935 of the GentilesG1484 domineerG2961 overG2961 them; and thoseG3588 who haveG1850 authorityG1850 overG1850 them are calledG2564 ‘BenefactorsG2110.’ 26But it is not thisG3779 wayG3779 for you; 27ratherG235, the oneG3739 who is the greatestG3173 amongG1722 you must becomeG1096 likeG5613 28the youngestG3501, and the leaderG2233 likeG5613 the servantG1247. 27For 29whoG5101 is greaterG3173, the one who reclinesG345 at the table orG2228 the one who servesG1247? Is it not the one who reclinesG345 at the table? But 30I amG1510 amongG1722G3319 you as the one who servesG1247.
28“You are the ones who have stoodG1265 by Me in My 31trialsG3986; 29and justG2531 asG2531 My FatherG3962 hasG2192 grantedG1303 Me a 32kingdomG932, I grantG1303 you 30that you may 33eatG2068 and drinkG4095 at My tableG5132 in My 34kingdomG932, and 35you will sitG2521 on thronesG2362 judgingG2919 the twelveG1427 tribesG5443 of IsraelG2474.
31“SimonG4613, SimonG4613, beholdG2400, 36SatanG4567 hasG2192 37demandedG1809 to 38siftG4617 you men likeG5613 wheatG4621; 32but I 39have prayedG1189 for 40you, that 41your faithG4102 will not failG1587; and 42you, whenG4218 you have 43turnedG1994 backG1994, 44strengthenG4741 your brothersG80.” 3345But he saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, I amG1510 readyG2092 to goG4198 with You bothG2532 to prisonG5438 and to deathG2288!” 34But He saidG3004, “I tellG3004 you, PeterG4074, the roosterG220 will not crowG5455 todayG4594 untilG2193 you have deniedG533 threeG5151 timesG5151 that you knowG3609 Me.”
35And He saidG3004 to them, “46WhenG3753 I sentG649 you outG649 withoutG817 moneyG905 beltG905 and bagG4082 and sandalsG5266, you did not lackG5302 anythingG5100, did you?” They saidG3004, “No, nothingG3762.” 36And He saidG3004 to them, “But nowG3568, 47whoeverG3588 hasG2192 a moneyG905 beltG905 is to takeG142 it along, likewiseG3668 alsoG2532 a bagG4082, and 48whoeverG3588 hasG2192 noG3361 swordG3162 is to sellG4453 his 49cloakG2440 and buyG59 one. 37For I tellG3004 you that thisG3778 which is writtenG1125 mustG1163 be fulfilledG5055 in Me: ‘50And He was countedG3049 with wrongdoersG459’; for 51that which refersG4012 to Me hasG2192 its 52fulfillmentG5056.” 38They saidG3004, “LordG2962, lookG2400, hereG5602 are twoG1417 53swordsG3162.” And He saidG3004 to them, “It is enoughG2425.”
The Garden of Gethsemane
3954And He cameG1831 outG1831 and wentG4198, 55as was His habitG1485, to 56the MountG3735 of OlivesG1636; and the disciplesG3101 alsoG2532 followedG190 Him. 4057NowG1161 when He arrivedG1096 at the placeG5117, He saidG3004 to them, “58PrayG4336 that you do not comeG1525 intoG1525 temptationG3986.” 41And He withdrewG645 from them aboutG5616 a stone’sG3037 throwG1000, and He 59kneltG1119G5087 downG5087G1119 and began to prayG4336, 42sayingG3004, “FatherG3962, ifG1487 You are willingG1014, removeG3911 thisG3778 60cupG4221 from Me; 61yetG4133 not My willG2307, but YoursG4674 be doneG1096.” 43[62NowG1161 an 63angelG32 from heavenG3772 appearedG3708 to Him, strengtheningG1765 Him. 44And 64beingG1096 in agonyG74, He was prayingG4336 very ferventlyG1618; and His sweatG2402 becameG1096 likeG5616 dropsG2361 of bloodG129, fallingG2597 downG2597 upon the groundG1093]. 45When He roseG450 from prayerG4335, He cameG2064 to the disciplesG3101 and foundG2147 them sleepingG2837 from sorrowG3077, 46and He saidG3004 to them, “WhyG5101 areG2518 you sleepingG2518? GetG450 upG450 and 65prayG4336 that you do not comeG1525 intoG1525 temptationG3986.”
Jesus Betrayed by Judas
4766While He was stillG2089 speakingG2980, beholdG2400, a crowdG3793 came, and the one calledG3004 JudasG2455, oneG1520 of the twelveG1427, was leadingG4281 theG4281 wayG4281 for them; and he approachedG1448 JesusG2424 to kissG5368 Him. 48But JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “JudasG2455, are you betrayingG3860 the SonG5207 of ManG444 with a kissG5370?” 49When thoseG3588 whoG3588 were aroundG4012 Him sawG3708 what was going to happenG1510, they saidG3004, “LordG2962, shall we strikeG3960 with the 67swordG3162?” 50And oneG1520 of them struckG3960 the slaveG1401 of the highG749 priestG749 and cutG851 offG851 his rightG1188 earG3775. 51But JesusG2424 respondedG611 and saidG3004, “68StopG1439! NoG2193 moreG2193 of thisG3778.” And He touchedG681 his earG5621 and healedG2390 him. 52And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to the chiefG749 priestsG749 and 69officersG4755 of the templeG2413 and eldersG4245 who had comeG3854 againstG1909 Him, “Have you comeG1831 outG1831 with swordsG3162 and clubsG3586 70as you would againstG1909 a manG3027 incitingG3027 aG3027 revoltG3027? 53While I was with you dailyG2596G2250 in the templeG2413, you did not layG1614 handsG5495 on Me; but 71thisG3778 hourG5610 and the powerG1849 of darknessG4655 are yoursG4771.”
Jesus’ Arrest
5472NowG1161 they arrestedG4815 Him and ledG71 Him away, and broughtG1521 Him to the houseG3614 of the highG749 priestG749; but 73PeterG4074 was followingG190 atG3113 aG3113 distanceG3113. 5574After they kindledG4015 a fireG4442 in the middleG3319 of 75the courtyardG833 and satG4776 downG4776 togetherG4776, PeterG4074 was sittingG2521 amongG3319 them. 56And a slaveG3814 womanG3814, seeingG3708 him as he satG2521 in the firelightG5457, and staringG816 at him, saidG3004, “ThisG3778 manG3778 was with Him asG2532 wellG2532.” 57But he deniedG720 it, sayingG3004, “I do not knowG3609 Him, womanG1135!” 58And a littleG1024 laterG3326, 76anotherG2087 personG2087 sawG3708 him and saidG5346, “You are one of them tooG2532!” But PeterG4074 saidG5346, “ManG444, I amG1510 not!” 59And after aboutG5616 an hourG5610 had passedG1339, someG5100 otherG243 manG243 began to insistG1340, sayingG3004, “CertainlyG1909G225 thisG3778 manG3778 alsoG2532 was with Him, 77for he, tooG2532, is a GalileanG1057.” 60But PeterG4074 saidG3004, “ManG444, I do not knowG3609 whatG3739 you are talkingG3004 about!” And immediatelyG3916, while he was stillG2089 speakingG2980, a roosterG220 crowedG5455. 61And then 78the LordG2962 turnedG4762 and lookedG1689 atG1689 PeterG4074. And PeterG4074 rememberedG5279 the wordG3056 of the LordG2962, howG5613 He had toldG3004 him, “79BeforeG4250 a roosterG220 crowsG5455 todayG4594, you will denyG533 Me threeG5151 timesG5151.” 62And he wentG1831 outG1831 and weptG2799 bitterlyG4090.
6380The menG435 who were holdingG4912 81Jesus inG4912 custodyG4912 began mockingG1702 Him and beatingG1194 Him, 64and they blindfoldedG4028 Him and repeatedly askedG1905 Him, sayingG3004, “82ProphesyG4395, whoG5101 is the one who hitG3817 You?” 65And they were sayingG3004 manyG4183 otherG2087 thingsG4183 againstG1519 Him, 83blasphemingG987.
Jesus before the Sanhedrin
6684WhenG5613 it was dayG2250, 85the 86CouncilG4244 ofG4244 eldersG4244 of the peopleG2992 assembledG4863, bothG5037 chiefG749 priestsG749 and scribesG1122, and they ledG520 Him awayG520 to their 87councilG4892 chamberG4892, sayingG3004, 67“88IfG1487 You are the 89ChristG5547, tellG3004 us.” But He saidG3004 to them, “IfG1437 I tellG3004 you, you will not believeG4100; 68and ifG1437 I askG2065 aG2065 questionG2065, you will not answerG611. 6990But from nowG3568 on 91the SonG5207 of ManG444 will be seatedG2521 at the rightG1188 handG1188 of the powerG1411 of GodG2316.” 70And they allG3956 saidG3004, “SoG3767 You are 92the SonG5207 of GodG2316?” And He saidG5346 to them, “93You say correctly that I amG1510.” 71And then they saidG3004, “WhatG5101 furtherG2089 needG5532 do we haveG2192 of testimonyG3141? For we have heardG191 it ourselvesG846 from His own mouthG4750!”
