Psalms 78:25-72
25Man did eat the bread of 1angels; He sent them 2food 34in abundance.26He 5caused the east wind to blow in the heavens And by His 6power He directed the south wind.27When He rained 7meat upon them like the dust, Even 8winged fowl like the sand of the seas,28Then He let them fall in the midst of 9their camp, Round about their dwellings.29So they 10ate and were well filled, And their desire He gave to them.3011Before they had satisfied their desire, 12While their food was in their mouths,31The 13anger of God rose against them And killed 14some of their 15stoutest ones, And 16subdued the choice men of Israel.32In spite of all this they 17still sinned And 18did not believe in His wonderful works.33So He brought 19their days to an end in 20futility And their years in sudden terror.
34When He killed them, then they 21sought Him, And returned and searched 22diligently for God;35And they remembered that God was their 23rock, And the Most High God their 24Redeemer.36But they 25deceived Him with their mouth And 26lied to Him with their tongue.37For their heart was not 27steadfast toward Him, Nor were they faithful in His covenant.38But He, being 28compassionate, 2930forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them; And often He 3132restrained His anger And did not arouse all His wrath.39Thus 33He remembered that they were but 34flesh, A 3536wind that passes and does not return.
40How often they 37rebelled against Him in the wilderness And 38grieved Him in the 39desert!41Again and again they 4041tempted God, And pained the 42Holy One of Israel.42They 43did not remember 44His 45power, The day when He 46redeemed them from the adversary,43When He performed His 47signs in Egypt And His 48marvels in the field of Zoan,44And 49turned their rivers to blood, And their streams, they could not drink.45He sent among them swarms of 50flies which devoured them, And 51frogs which destroyed them.46He gave also their crops to the 52grasshopper And the product of their labor to the 53locust.47He 54destroyed their vines with 55hailstones And their sycamore trees with frost.48He gave over their 56cattle also to the hailstones And their herds to bolts of lightning.49He 57sent upon them His burning anger, Fury and indignation and trouble, 58A band of destroying angels.50He leveled a path for His anger; He did not spare their soul from death, But 59gave over their life to the plague,51And 60smote all the firstborn in Egypt, The 61first issue of their virility in the tents of 62Ham.52But He 63led forth His own people like sheep And guided them in the wilderness 64like a flock;53He led them 65safely, so that they did not fear; But 66the sea engulfed their enemies.
54So 67He brought them to His holy 68land, To this 6970hill country 71which His right hand had gained.55He also 72drove out the nations before them And 73apportioned them for an inheritance by measurement, And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.56Yet they 7475tempted and 76rebelled against the Most High God And did not keep His testimonies,57But turned back and 77acted treacherously like their fathers; They 78turned aside like a treacherous bow.58For they 79provoked Him with their 80high places And 81aroused His jealousy with their 82graven images.59When God heard, He 83was filled with 84wrath And greatly 85abhorred Israel;60So that He 86abandoned the 87dwelling place at Shiloh, The tent 88which He had pitched among men,61And gave up His 89strength to captivity And His glory 90into the hand of the adversary.62He also 91delivered His people to the sword, And 92was filled with wrath at His inheritance.6393Fire devoured 94His young men, And 95His 96virgins had no wedding songs.6497His 98priests fell by the sword, And 99His 100widows could not weep.
65Then the Lord 101awoke as if from sleep, Like a 102warrior 103overcome by wine.66He 104105drove His adversaries backward; He put on them an everlasting reproach.67He also 106rejected the tent of Joseph, And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,68But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount 107Zion which He loved.69And He 108built His sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which He has founded forever.70He also 109chose David His servant And took him from the sheepfolds;71From 110111the care of the 112ewes 113with suckling lambs He brought him To 114shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel 115His inheritance.72So he shepherded them according to the 116integrity of his heart, And guided them with his skillful hands.
