Psalms 80

God Implored to Rescue His People from Their Calamities.

1Oh, give ear, 1Shepherd of Israel, You who lead 2Joseph like a flock; You who 3are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!2Before 4Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, 5stir up Your power And come to save us!3O God, 6restore us And 7cause Your face to shine upon us, 8and we will be saved.

4O 9Lord God of hosts, 10How long will You 11be angry with the prayer of Your people?5You have fed them with the 12bread of tears, And You have made them to drink tears in 13large measure.6You make us 14an object of contention 15to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.7O God of hosts, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, 16and we will be saved.

8You removed a 17vine from Egypt; You 18drove out the 19nations and 20planted it.9You 21cleared the ground before it, And it 22took deep root and filled the land.10The mountains were covered with its shadow, And 23the cedars of God with its 24boughs.11It was sending out its branches 25to the sea And its shoots to the River.12Why have You 26broken down its 27hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?13A boar from the forest 28eats it away And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.

14O God of hosts, 29turn again now, we beseech You; 30Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,15Even the 31 32shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the 33son whom You have 34strengthened for Yourself.16It is 35burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the 36rebuke of Your countenance.17Let 37Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You 38made strong for Yourself.18Then we shall not 39turn back from You; 40Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.19O Lord God of hosts, 41restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, 42and we will be saved.
