Psalms 132
Prayer for the Lord’s Blessing upon the Sanctuary.
A Song of Ascents.
1Remember, O Lord, on David’s behalf, All 1his affliction;2How he swore to the Lord And vowed to 2the Mighty One of Jacob,3“Surely I will not 3enter 4my house, Nor 5lie on my bed;4I will not 6give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids,5Until I find a 7place for the Lord, 8A dwelling place for 9the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6Behold, we heard of it in 10Ephrathah, We found it in the 11field of 12Jaar.7Let us go into His 1314dwelling place; Let us 15worship at His 16footstool.817Arise, O Lord, to Your 18resting place, You and the ark of Your 19strength.9Let Your priests be 20clothed with righteousness, And let Your 21godly ones sing for joy.
10For the sake of David Your servant, Do not turn away the face of Your 22anointed.11The Lord has 23sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: “24Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.12If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I will teach them, Their sons also shall 25sit upon your throne forever.”
13For the Lord has 26chosen Zion; He has 27desired it for His habitation.14“This is My 28resting place forever; Here I will 29dwell, for I have desired it.15I will abundantly 30bless her provision; I will 31satisfy her needy with bread.16Her 32priests also I will clothe with salvation, And her 33godly ones will sing aloud for joy.17There I will cause the 34horn of David to spring forth; I have prepared a 35lamp for Mine anointed.18His enemies I will 36clothe with shame, But upon himself his 37crown shall shine.”
