Psalms 2
The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed.
1Why are 1the 2nations in an uproar And the peoples 3devising a vain thing?2The 4kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together 5Against the Lord and against His 67Anointed, saying,3“Let us 8tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!”
4He who 9sits in the heavens 10laughs, The Lord 11scoffs at them.5Then He will speak to them in His 12anger And 13terrify them in His fury, saying,6“But as for Me, I have 14installed 15My King Upon Zion, 16My holy mountain.”
7“I will surely tell of the 17decree of the Lord: He said to Me, ‘You are 18My Son, Today I have begotten You.8Ask of Me, and 19I will surely give 20the 21nations as Your inheritance, And the very 22ends of the earth as Your possession.9You shall 2324break them with a 25rod of iron, You shall 26shatter them like 27earthenware.’”
10Now therefore, O kings, 28show discernment; Take warning, O 29judges of the earth.1130Worship the Lord with 3132reverence And rejoice with 33trembling.1234Do homage to 35the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For 36His wrath may 37soon be kindled. How blessed are all who 38take refuge in Him!
