The Warnings of History to the Ungodly

112Jude, a 3bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of 4James,

To 5those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and 6kept for Jesus Christ: 27May mercy and peace and love 8be multiplied to you.

39Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our 10common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you 11contend earnestly for 12the faith which was once for all 13handed down to 14the 15saints. 4For certain persons have 16crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand 1718marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn 19the grace of our God into 20licentiousness and 21deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5Now I desire to 22remind you, though 23you know all things once for all, that 24the Lord, 25after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, 26subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 6And 27angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has 28kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7just as 29Sodom and Gomorrah and the 30cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and 31went after 32strange flesh, are exhibited as an 3334example in undergoing the 35punishment of eternal fire.

8Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, 36defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile 37angelic majesties. 9But 38Michael 39the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about 40the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “41The Lord rebuke you!” 10But 42these men revile the things which they do not understand; and 43the things which they know by instinct, 44like unreasoning animals, by these things they are 45destroyed. 11Woe to them! For they have gone 46the way of Cain, and for pay 47they have rushed headlong into 48the error of Balaam, and 49perished in the rebellion of Korah. 12These are the men who are 50hidden reefs 51in your love feasts when they feast with you 52without fear, caring for themselves; 53clouds without water, 54carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, 55doubly dead, 56uprooted; 1357wild waves of the sea, casting up 58their own 59shame like foam; wandering stars, 60for whom the 61black darkness has been reserved forever.

14It was also about these men that 62Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “63Behold, the Lord came with 64many thousands of His holy ones, 1565to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which 66ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” 16These are 67grumblers, finding fault, 68following after their own lusts; 69they speak 70arrogantly, flattering people 71for the sake of gaining an advantage.

Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

17But you, 72beloved, 73ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by 74the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18that they were saying to you, “75In the last time there will be mockers, 76following after their own ungodly lusts.” 19These are the ones who cause divisions, 7778worldly-minded, 79devoid of the Spirit. 20But you, 80beloved, 81building yourselves up on your most holy 82faith, 83praying in the Holy Spirit, 21keep yourselves in the love of God, 84waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23save others, 85snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, 86hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

2487Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to 88make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with 89great joy, 25to the 90only 91God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, 92be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, 93before all time and now and 94forever. Amen.
