Psalms 54
Prayer for Defense against Enemies.
For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Possibly Contemplative, or Didactic, or Skillful PsalmMaskil of David, 1 Sam 23:19; 26:1when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Is not David hiding himself among us?”
1Save me, O God, by 1Your name, And 2vindicate me by 3Your power.24Hear my prayer, O God; 5Give ear to the words of my mouth.3For strangers have 6risen against me And 7violent men have 8sought my 9life; They have 10not set God before them. 11Selah.
4Behold, 12God is my helper; The Lord is 13the 14sustainer of my soul.515He will 16recompense the evil to 17my foes; 1819Destroy them 20in Your 21faithfulness.
62223Willingly I will sacrifice to You; I will give 24thanks to Your name, O Lord, for it is good.7For 25He has 26delivered me from all 27trouble, And my eye has 28looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.
