Psalms 9
A Psalm of Thanksgiving for God’s Justice.
For the choir director; on I.e. “Death to the Son”Muth-labben. A Psalm of David.
1I will give thanks to the Lord with all 1my heart; I will 2tell of all Your 3wonders.2I will be glad and 4exult in You; I will 5sing praise to Your name, O 6Most High.
3When my enemies turn back, They stumble and 7perish before You.4For You have 8maintained 9my just cause; You have sat on the throne 1011judging righteously.5You have 12rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have 13blotted out their name forever and ever.614The enemy has come to an end in perpetual ruins, And You have uprooted the cities; The very 15memory of them has perished.
7But the 16Lord 17abides forever; He has established His 18throne for judgment,8And He will 19judge the world in righteousness; He will execute judgment for the peoples with equity.920The Lord also will be a 21stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble;10And 22those who 23know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O Lord, have not 24forsaken those who seek You.
11Sing praises to the Lord, who 25dwells in Zion; 26Declare among the peoples His deeds.12For 27He who 28requires blood remembers them; He does not forget 29the cry of the afflicted.13Be gracious to me, O Lord; See my affliction from those 30who hate me, You who 31lift me up from the gates of death,14That I may tell of 32all Your praises, That in the gates of the daughter of Zion I may 33rejoice in Your 34salvation.15The nations have sunk down 35in the pit which they have made; In the 36net which they hid, their own foot has been caught.16The Lord has 37made Himself known; He has 38executed judgment. In the work of his own hands the wicked is snared. 39Higgaion 40Selah.
17The wicked will 4142return to 43Sheol, Even all the nations who 44forget God.18For the 45needy will not always be forgotten, Nor the 46hope of the afflicted perish forever.1947Arise, O Lord, do not let man prevail; Let the nations be 48judged before You.20Put them 49in fear, O Lord; Let the nations know that they are 50but men. Selah.
