Psalms 116

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death.

11I love the Lord, because He 2hears My voice and my supplications.2Because He has 3inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.3The 4cords of death encompassed me And the 5terrors of 6Sheol 7came upon me; I found distress and sorrow.4Then 8I called upon the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I beseech You, 910save my life!”

511Gracious is the Lord, and 12righteous; Yes, our God is 13compassionate.6The Lord preserves 14the simple; I was 15brought low, and He saved me.7Return to your 16rest, O my soul, For the Lord has 17dealt bountifully with you.8For You have 18rescued my soul from death, My eyes from tears, My feet from stumbling.9I shall walk before the Lord In the 1920land of the living.10I 21believed when I said, “I am 22greatly afflicted.”11I 23said in my alarm, “24All men are liars.”

12What shall I 25render to the Lord For all His 26benefits 27toward me?13I shall lift up the 28cup of salvation And 29call upon the name of the Lord.14I shall 30pay my vows to the Lord, Oh may it be 31in the presence of all His people.1532Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His godly ones.16O Lord, 33surely I am 34Your servant, I am Your servant, the 35son of Your handmaid, You have 36loosed my bonds.17To You I shall offer 37a sacrifice of thanksgiving, And 38call upon the name of the Lord.18I shall 39pay my vows to the Lord, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,19In the 40courts of the Lord’s house, In the midst of you, O 41Jerusalem. 42Praise 43the Lord!
