Psalms 107

The Lord Delivers Men from Manifold Troubles.

1Oh 1give thanks to the Lord, for 2He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.2Let 3the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has 4redeemed from the hand of the adversary3And 5gathered from the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the 6south.

4They 7wandered in the wilderness in a 8desert region; They did not find a way to 9an inhabited 10city.5They were hungry 11and thirsty; Their 12soul fainted within them.6Then they 13cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He delivered them out of their distresses.7He led them also by a 1415straight way, To go to 1617an inhabited city.818Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness, And for His 19wonders to the sons of men!9For He has 20satisfied the 21thirsty soul, And the 22hungry soul He has filled with what is good.

10There were those who 23dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death, 24Prisoners in 25misery and 26chains,11Because they had 27rebelled against the words of God And 28spurned the 29counsel of the Most High.12Therefore He humbled their heart with labor; They stumbled and there was 30none to help.13Then they 31cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses.14He 32brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death And 33broke their bands apart.1534Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness, And for His 35wonders to the sons of men!16For He has 36shattered gates of bronze And cut bars of iron asunder.

17Fools, because of 37their rebellious way, And 38because of their iniquities, were afflicted.18Their 39soul abhorred all kinds of food, And they 40drew near to the 41gates of death.19Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses.20He 42sent His word and 43healed them, And 44delivered them from their 45destructions.2146Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness, And for His 47wonders to the sons of men!22Let them also offer 48sacrifices of thanksgiving, And 49tell of His works with joyful singing.

23Those who 50go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters;24They have seen the works of the Lord, And His 51wonders in the deep.25For He 52spoke and raised up a 53stormy wind, Which 54lifted up the waves 55of the sea.26They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul 56melted away in their misery.27They reeled and 57staggered like a drunken man, And 58were at their wits’ end.28Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses.29He 59caused the storm to be still, So that the waves 60of the sea were hushed.30Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired haven.3161Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness, And for His 6263wonders to the sons of men!32Let them 64extol Him also 65in the congregation of the people, And 66praise Him at the seat of the elders.

33He 6768changes rivers into a 69wilderness And springs of water into a thirsty ground;34A 70fruitful land into a 71salt waste, Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.35He 7273changes a 74wilderness into a pool of water And a dry land into springs of water;36And there He makes the hungry to dwell, So that they may establish 7576an inhabited city,37And sow fields and 77plant vineyards, And 78gather a fruitful harvest.38Also He blesses them and they 79multiply greatly, And He 80does not let their cattle decrease.

39When they are 81diminished and 82bowed down Through oppression, misery and sorrow,40He 83pours contempt upon 84princes And 85makes them wander 86in a pathless waste.41But He 87sets the needy 88securely on high away from affliction, And 89makes his families like a flock.42The 90upright see it and are glad; But all 91unrighteousness shuts its mouth.43Who is 92wise? Let him give heed to these things, And consider the 93lovingkindnesses of the Lord.
