Psalms 129

Prayer for the Overthrow of Zion’s Enemies.

A Song of Ascents.

1“1Many times they have 23persecuted me from my 4youth up,” 5Let Israel now say,2“6Many times they have 7persecuted me from my youth up; Yet they have 8not prevailed against me.3The plowers plowed upon my back; They lengthened their furrows.”4The Lord 9is righteous; He has cut in two the 10cords of the wicked.

5May all who 11hate Zion Be 12put to shame and turned backward;6Let them be like 13grass upon the housetops, Which withers before it 14grows up;7With which the reaper does not fill his 15hand, Or the binder of sheaves his 16bosom;8Nor do those who pass by say, “The 17blessing of the Lord be upon you; We bless you in the name of the Lord.”
