Psalms 5
Prayer for Protection from the Wicked.
For the choir director; for Heb Nehilothflute accompaniment. A Psalm of David.
11Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my 23groaning.2Heed 4the sound of my cry for help, 5my King and my God, For to You I pray.3In the morning, O Lord, 6You will hear my voice; In the 7morning I will order my 8prayer to You and eagerly 9watch.
4For You are not a God 10who takes pleasure in wickedness; 11No evil 12dwells with You.5The 13boastful shall not 14stand before Your eyes; You 15hate all who do iniquity.6You 16destroy those who speak falsehood; The Lord abhors 17the man of bloodshed and deceit.7But as for me, 18by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, 19At Your holy temple I will 20bow in 21reverence for You.
8O Lord, 22lead me 23in Your righteousness 24because of 25my foes; Make Your way 26straight before me.9There is 27nothing 28reliable in 29what they say; Their 30inward part is destruction itself. Their 31throat is an open grave; They 32flatter with their tongue.10Hold them guilty, O God; 33By their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions 34thrust them out, For they are 35rebellious against You.
11But let all who 36take refuge in You 37be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And 38may You 39shelter them, That those who 40love Your name may exult in You.12For it is You who 41blesses the righteous man, O Lord, You 42surround him with favor as with a shield.
