Psalms 77

Comfort in Trouble from Recalling God’s Mighty Deeds.

For the choir director; 1 Chr 16:41according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

1My voice rises to God, and I will 1cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.2In the 2day of my trouble I sought the Lord; 3In the night my 4hand was stretched out 5without weariness; My soul 6refused to be comforted.3When I remember God, then I am 7disturbed; When I 8sigh, then 9my spirit grows faint. 10Selah.4You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I 11cannot speak.5I have considered the 12days of old, The years of long ago.6I will remember my 13song in the night; I 14will meditate with my heart, And my spirit 15ponders:

7Will the Lord 16reject forever? And will He 17never be favorable again?8Has His 18lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His 19 20promise come to an end 21forever?9Has God 22forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger 23withdrawn His 24compassion? Selah.10Then I said, “25It is my 26grief, That the 27right hand of the Most High has changed.”

11I shall remember the 28deeds of 29the Lord; Surely I will 30remember Your wonders of old.12I will 31meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds.13Your way, O God, is 32holy; 33What god is great like our God?14You are the 34God who works wonders; You have 35made known Your strength among the peoples.15You have by Your 36power 37redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and 38Joseph. Selah.

16The 39waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled.17The 40clouds poured out water; The skies 41gave forth a sound; Your 42arrows 43flashed here and there.18The 44sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The 45lightnings lit up the world; The 46earth trembled and shook.19Your 47way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known.20You 48led Your people like a flock By the hand of 49Moses and Aaron.
