Psalms 68

The God of Sinai and of the Sanctuary.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David. A Song.

11Let 2God arise, 3let His enemies be scattered, And 4let those who hate Him flee before Him.2As 5smoke is driven away, so drive them away; As 6wax melts before the fire, So let the 7wicked perish before God.3But let the 8righteous be glad; let them exult before God; Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.4Sing to God, 9sing praises to His name; 1011Lift up a song for Him who 12rides through the deserts, Whose 13name is 14the Lord, and exult before Him.

5A 15father of the fatherless and a 16judge 17for the widows, Is God in His 18holy habitation.6God 1920makes a home for the lonely; He 21leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only 22the rebellious dwell in a parched land.

7O God, when You 23went forth before Your people, When You 24marched through the wilderness, 25Selah.8The 26earth quaked; The 27heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; 2829Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.9You 30shed abroad a plentiful rain, O God; You confirmed Your inheritance when it was 31parched.10Your creatures settled in it; You 32provided in Your goodness for the poor, O God.

11The Lord gives the 33command; The 34women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host:12“35Kings of armies flee, they flee, And she who remains at home will 36divide the spoil!”1337When you lie down 38among the 39sheepfolds, You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver, And its pinions with glistening gold.14When the Almighty 40scattered the kings 41there, It was snowing in 42Zalmon.

15A 4344mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan; A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan.16Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks, At the mountain which God has 45desired for His abode? Surely 46the Lord will dwell there forever.17The 47chariots of God are 48myriads, 49thousands upon thousands; 50The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.18You have 51ascended on high, You have 52led captive Your captives; You have received gifts among men, Even among the rebellious also, that 53the Lord God may dwell there.

19Blessed be the Lord, who daily 54bears our burden, 55The God who is our salvation. Selah.20God is to us a 56God of deliverances; And 57to 58God the Lord belong escapes 59from death.21Surely God will 60shatter the head of His enemies, The hairy crown of him who goes on in his guilty deeds.22The Lord 61said, “62I will bring them back from Bashan. I will bring them back from the depths of the sea;23That 6364your foot may shatter them in blood, The tongue of your 65dogs may have its portion from your enemies.”

24They have seen 66Your 67procession, O God, The 68procession of my God, my King, 6970into the sanctuary.25The 71singers went on, the musicians after them, 72In the midst of the 73maidens beating tambourines.2674Bless God in the congregations, Even the Lord, you who are of the 75fountain of Israel.27There is 76Benjamin, the 77youngest, 78ruling them, The princes of Judah in their throng, The princes of 79Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.

2880Your God has 81commanded your strength; Show Yourself strong, O God, 82who have acted 83on our behalf.2984Because of Your temple at Jerusalem 85Kings will bring gifts to You.30Rebuke the 86beasts 87in the reeds, The herd of 88bulls with the calves of the peoples, Trampling under foot the pieces of silver; He has 89scattered the peoples who delight in war.31Envoys will come out of 90Egypt; 9192Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God.

32Sing to God, O 93kingdoms of the earth, 94Sing praises to the Lord, Selah.33To Him who 95rides upon the 9697highest heavens, which are from ancient times; Behold, 98He 99speaks forth with His voice, a 100mighty voice.34101Ascribe strength to God; His majesty is over Israel And 102His strength is in the 103skies.35104O God, You are 105awesome from Your 106sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself 107gives strength and power to the people. 108Blessed be God!
