Psalms 7

The Lord Implored to Defend the Psalmist against the Wicked.

A I.e. Dithyrambic rhythm; or wild passionate songShiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord Or concerning the words ofconcerning Cush, a Benjamite.

1O Lord my God, 1in You I have taken refuge; Save me from all those who pursue me, and 2deliver me,2Or he will tear 3my soul 4like a lion, 5Dragging me away, while there is none to deliver.

3O Lord my God, if I have done this, If there is 6injustice in my hands,4If I have 7rewarded evil to 8my friend, Or have 9plundered 10him who without cause was my adversary,5Let the enemy pursue 11my soul and overtake 12it; And let him trample my life down to the ground And lay my glory in the dust. 13Selah.

614Arise, O Lord, in Your anger; 15Lift up Yourself against 16the rage of my adversaries, And 17arouse Yourself 18for me; You have appointed judgment.7Let the assembly of the 19peoples encompass You, And over 20them return on high.8The Lord 21judges the peoples; 2223Vindicate me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.9O let 24the evil of the wicked come to an end, but 25establish the righteous; For the righteous God 26tries the hearts and 27minds.10My 28shield is 29with God, Who 30saves the upright in heart.11God is a 31righteous judge, And a God who has 32indignation every day.

12If 33a man 34does not repent, He will 35sharpen His sword; He has 36bent His bow and 37made it ready.13He has also prepared 38for Himself deadly weapons; He makes His 39arrows fiery shafts.14Behold, he travails with wickedness, And he 40conceives mischief and brings forth falsehood.15He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, And has 41fallen into the hole which he made.16His 42mischief will return upon his own head, And his 43violence will descend upon 44his own pate.

17I will give thanks to the Lord 45according to His righteousness And will 46sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
