Psalms 57
Prayer for Rescue from Persecutors.
For the choir director; set to Lit Do Not DestroyAl-tashheth. A Possibly, Epigrammatic Poem or Atonement PsalmMikhtam of David, 1 Sam 22:1; 24:3when he fled from Saul in the cave.
1Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul 1takes refuge in You; And in the 2shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction 3passes by.2I will cry to God Most High, To God who 4accomplishes all things for me.3He will 5send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who 67tramples upon me. 8Selah. God will send forth His 9lovingkindness and His 10truth.
4My soul is among 11lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, Even the sons of men, whose 12teeth are spears and arrows And their 13tongue a sharp sword.514Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth.6They have 15prepared a 16net for my steps; My soul is 17bowed down; They 18dug a pit before me; They themselves have 19fallen into the midst of it. Selah.
720My 21heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!8Awake, 22my glory! Awake, 23harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.924I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the 25nations.10For Your 26lovingkindness is great to the heavens And Your 27truth to the clouds.1128Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth.
