1 Thessalonians 1

Thanksgiving for These Believers

11Paul and 2Silvanus and 3Timothy,

To the 4church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 5Grace to you and peace.

26We give thanks to God always for all of you, 7making mention of you in our prayers; 3constantly bearing in mind your 8work of faith and labor of 9love and 1011steadfastness of hope 12in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of 13our God and Father, 4knowing, 14brethren beloved by God, 15His choice of you; 5for our 16gospel did not come to you in word only, but also 17in power and in the Holy Spirit and with 18full conviction; just as you know 19what kind of men we 20proved to be among you for your sake. 6You also became 21imitators of us and of the Lord, 22having received 23the word in much tribulation with the 24joy of the Holy Spirit, 7so that you became an example to all the believers in 25Macedonia and in 26Achaia. 8For 27the word of the Lord has 28sounded forth from you, not only in 29Macedonia and 30Achaia, but also 31in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything. 9For they themselves report about us what kind of a 3233reception we had 34with you, and how you 35turned to God 36from 37idols to serve 3839a living and true God, 10and to 40wait for His Son from 41heaven, whom He 42raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who 43rescues us from 44the wrath to come.
