Context of Psalms 77:1
My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me. 2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted. 3When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. Selah.

Commentaries on Psalms 77:1
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 1I cried unto God - The repetition here marks the earnestness of the psalmist's soul; and the word voice shows that the Psalm was not the issue of private meditation, but of deep mental trouble, which forced him to speak his griefs aloud.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 1I cried unto God with my voice - That is, he cried or prayed audibly. It was not mere mental prayer. See the notes at Psalm 3:4. Even unto God with my voice - The repetition here is emphatic. The idea is that it was an earnest or fervent cry. Compare the notes at 2 Corinthians 12:8. And he gave ear unto me - See Psalm 5:1, note; Psalm 17:6, note.Read the comment
