Psalms 7

The Lord Implored to Defend the Psalmist against the Wicked.

A I.e., Dithyrambic rhythm; or wild, passionate songShiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord Or concerning the words ofconcerning Cush, a Benjaminite.

1O Lord my God, 1in You I have taken refuge; Save me from all those who pursue me, and 2rescue me,2Or he will tear 3my soul 4like a lion, Dragging me away, while there is no one to rescue me.

3O Lord my God, if I have done this, If there is 5injustice in my hands,4If I have 6done evil to 7my friend, Or have 8plundered 9my enemy for no reason,5Let the enemy pursue 10my soul and overtake 11it; And let him trample my life to the ground And lay my glory in the dust. Selah

612Arise, Lord, in Your anger; 13Raise Yourself against 14the rage of my enemies, And 15stir Yourself 16for me; You have ordered judgment.7Let the assembly of the 17peoples encompass You, And return on high over it.8The Lord 18judges the peoples; 1920Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.9Please let 21the evil of the wicked come to an end, but 22establish the righteous; For the righteous God 23puts hearts and 24minds to the test.10My 25shield is 26with God, Who 27saves the upright in heart.11God is a 28righteous judge, And a God who 29shows indignation every day.

12If one 30does not repent, He will 31sharpen His sword; He has 32bent His bow and taken aim.13He has also prepared deadly weapons for Himself; He makes His 33arrows fiery shafts.14Behold, an evil person is pregnant with injustice, And he 34conceives harm and gives birth to lies.15He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, And has 35fallen into the hole which he made.16His 36harm will return on his own head, And his 37violence will descend on the top of his own head.

17I will give thanks to the Lord 38according to His righteousness And will 39sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
