Context of Psalms 119:159
157Many are my persecutors and my adversaries, Yet I do not turn aside from Your testimonies. 158I behold the treacherous and loathe them, Because they do not keep Your word. Consider how I love Your precepts; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness. 160The sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting. 161Princes persecute me without cause, But my heart stands in awe of Your words.

It is similar to the appeal of Peter to the Saviour John 21:17, “Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee.” A man who truly loves God may make this appeal without impropriety. He may be so confident - so certain - that he has…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 153-160Verses 153-160 The closer we cleave to the word of God, both as our rule and as our stay, the more assurance we have of deliverance.
