Context of Psalms 119:159
157Many are my persecutors and mine adversaries; yet have I not swerved from they testimonies. 158I beheld the treacherous dealers, and was grieved; because they observed not thy word. Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to thy lovingkindness. 160The sum of thy word is truth; and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. 161Princes have persecuted me without a cause; but my heart standeth in awe of thy words.

It is similar to the appeal of Peter to the Saviour John 21:17, “Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee.” A man who truly loves God may make this appeal without impropriety. He may be so confident - so certain - that he has…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 153-160Verses 153-160 The closer we cleave to the word of God, both as our rule and as our stay, the more assurance we have of deliverance.
