Psalms 88:3-18
3For my 1soul has 2had enough troubles, And 3my life has drawn near to 4Sheol.4I am reckoned among those who 5go down to the pit; I have become like a man 6without strength,57Forsaken 8among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And they are 9cut off from Your hand.6You have put me in 10the lowest pit, In 11dark places, in the 12depths.7Your wrath 13has rested upon me, And You have afflicted me with 14all Your waves. 15Selah.8You have removed 16my acquaintances far from me; You have made me an 1718object of loathing to them; I am 19shut up and cannot go out.9My 20eye has wasted away because of affliction; I have 21called upon You every day, O Lord; I have 22spread out my 23hands to You.
10Will You perform wonders for the dead? Will 24the 25departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah.11Will Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave, Your faithfulness in 26Abaddon?12Will Your wonders be made known in the 27darkness? And Your 28righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
13But I, O Lord, have cried out 29to You for help, And 30in the morning my prayer comes before You.14O Lord, why 31do You reject my soul? Why do You 32hide Your face from me?15I was afflicted and 33about to die from my youth on; I suffer 34Your terrors; I am 35overcome.16Your 36burning anger has passed over me; Your terrors have 3738destroyed me.17They have 39surrounded me 40like water all day long; They have 41encompassed me altogether.18You have removed 42lover and friend far from me; My acquaintances are in darkness.
