Psalms 77

Comfort in Trouble from Recalling God’s Mighty Deeds.

For the music director; 1 Chr 16:41according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

1My voice rises to God, and I will 1cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will listen to me.2In the 2day of my trouble I sought the Lord; 3In the night my 4hand was stretched out and did not grow weary; My soul 5refused to be comforted.3When I remember God, then I am 6restless; When I 7sigh, then 8my spirit feels weak. Selah4You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I 9cannot speak.5I have considered the 10days of old, The years of long ago.6I will remember my 11song in the night; I 12will meditate with my heart, And my spirit 13ponders:

7Will the Lord 14reject forever? And will He 15never be favorable again?8Has His 16favor ceased forever? Has His 1718promise come to an end 19forever?9Has God 20forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger 21withdrawn His 22compassion? Selah10Then I said, “23It is my 24grief, That the 25right hand of the Most High has changed.”

11I shall remember the 26deeds of 27the Lord; I will certainly 28remember Your wonders of old.12I will 29meditate on all Your work, And on Your deeds with thanksgiving.13Your way, God, is 30holy; 31What god is great like our God?14You are the 32God who works wonders; You have 33made known Your strength among the peoples.15By Your 34power You have 35redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and 36Joseph. Selah

16The 37waters saw You, God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The ocean depths also trembled.17The 38clouds poured out water; The skies 3940sounded out; Your 41arrows 42flashed here and there.18The 43sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The 44lightning lit up the world; The 45earth trembled and shook.19Your 46way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints were not known.20You 47led Your people like a flock By the hand of 48Moses and Aaron.
