Psalms 35:11-18

11 1Malicious witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I do not know.12They 2repay me evil for good, To the bereavement of my soul.13But as for me, 3when they were sick, my 4clothing was sackcloth; I 5humbled my soul with fasting, And my 6prayer kept returning to my bosom.14I went about as though it were my friend or brother; I 7bowed down 8mourning, as one who sorrows for a mother.15But 9at my 10stumbling they rejoiced and gathered themselves together; The 11 12smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me, They 13 14slandered me without ceasing.16Like godless jesters at a feast, They 15gnashed at me with their teeth.

17Lord, 16how long will You look on? Rescue my soul 17from their ravages, My 18only life from the lions.18I will 19give You thanks in the great congregation; I will 20praise You among a mighty throng.
