Micah 7
The Prophet Acknowledges
1Woe is me! For I am Like the fruit pickers, like the 1grape gatherers. There is not a cluster of grapes to eat, Or a 2first-ripe fig which 3I crave.2The 4godly person has 5perished from the land, And there is no upright person among men. All of them lie in wait for 6bloodshed; Each of them hunts the other with a 7net.3Concerning evil, both hands do it 8well. The prince asks, also the judge, for a 9bribe, And a great man speaks the desire of his soul; So they weave it together.4The best of them is like a 10briar, The most upright like a 11thorn hedge. The day when you post your watchmen, Your 12punishment will come. Then their 13confusion will occur.5Do not 14trust in a neighbor; Do not have confidence in a friend. From her who lies in your bosom Guard 15your lips.6For 16son treats father contemptuously, Daughter rises up against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 17A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.
God Is the Source of Salvation and Light
7But as for me, I will 18watch expectantly for the Lord; I will 19wait for the God of my salvation. My 20God will hear me.821Do not rejoice over me, O 22my enemy. Though I fall I will 23rise; Though I dwell in darkness, the Lord is a 24light for me.
9I will bear the indignation of the Lord Because I have sinned against Him, Until He 25pleads my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me out to the 26light, And I will see His 2728righteousness.10Then my enemy will see, And shame will cover her who 29said to me, “Where is the Lord your God?” My eyes will look on her; 30At that time she will 31be 32trampled down Like mire of the streets.11It will be a day for 33building your walls. On that day will your boundary be extended.12It will be a day when 34they will 35come to you From Assyria and the cities of Egypt, From Egypt even to the 36Euphrates, Even from sea to sea and mountain to mountain.13And the earth will become 37desolate because of her inhabitants, On account of the 38fruit of their deeds.
1439Shepherd Your people with Your 40scepter, The flock of Your 41possession Which dwells by itself in the woodland, In the midst of 42a fruitful field. Let them feed in 43Bashan and Gilead 44As in the days of old.15“As in the days when you came out from the land of Egypt, I will show 4546you miracles.”16Nations 47will see and be ashamed Of all their might. They will 48put their hand on their mouth, Their ears will be deaf.17They will 49lick the dust like a serpent, Like 50reptiles of the earth. They will come 51trembling out of their 52fortresses; To the Lord our God they will come in 53dread And they will be afraid before You.18Who is a God like You, who 54pardons iniquity And passes over the rebellious act of the 55remnant of His 56possession? He does not 57retain His anger forever, Because He 58delights in 59unchanging love.19He will again have compassion on us; 60He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will 61cast all 62their sins Into the depths of the sea.20You will give 6364truth to Jacob And 65unchanging love to Abraham, Which You 66swore to our forefathers From the days of old.
