Psalms 35:11-18

11 1Malicious witnesses rise up; They ask me things that I do not know.12They 2repay me evil for good, To the bereavement of my soul.13But as for me, 3when they were sick, my 4clothing was sackcloth; I 5humbled my soul with fasting, But my 6prayer kept returning to 7me.14I went about as though it were my friend or brother; I 8bowed down 9in mourning, like one who mourns for a mother.15But 10at my 11stumbling they rejoiced and gathered themselves together; The 12 13afflicted people whom I did not know gathered together against me, They 14 15slandered me without ceasing.16Like godless jesters at a feast, They 16gnashed at me with their teeth.

17Lord, 17how long will You look on? Rescue my soul 18from their ravages, My 19only life from the lions.18I will 20give You thanks in the great congregation; I will 21praise You among a mighty people.
