Psalms 18:1-19

1 1“I love You, O Lord, 2my strength.”2The Lord is 3my 4rock and 5my fortress and my 6deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My 7shield and the 8horn of my salvation, my 9stronghold.3I call upon the Lord, who is 10worthy to be praised, And I am 11saved from my enemies.

4The 12cords of death encompassed me, And the 13torrents of 14ungodliness 15terrified me.5The 16cords of 17Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me.6In my 18distress I called upon the Lord, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice 19out of His temple, And my 20cry for help before Him came into His ears.

7Then the 21earth shook and quaked; And the 22foundations of the mountains were trembling And were shaken, because He was angry.8Smoke went up 23out of His nostrils, And 24fire from His mouth devoured; Coals were kindled by it.9He 25bowed the heavens also, and came down With thick 26darkness under His feet.10He rode upon a 27cherub and flew; And He sped upon the 28wings of the wind.11He made 29darkness His hiding place, 30His 31canopy around Him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.12From the 32brightness before Him passed His thick clouds, Hailstones and 33coals of fire.13The Lord also 34thundered in the heavens, And the Most High uttered His voice, Hailstones and coals of fire.14He 35sent out His arrows, and scattered them, And lightning flashes in abundance, and 36routed them.15Then the 37channels of water appeared, And the foundations of the world were 38laid bare At Your 39rebuke, O Lord, At the blast of the 40breath of Your nostrils.

16He 41sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of 42many waters.17He 43delivered me from my strong enemy, And from those who hated me, for they were 44too mighty for me.18They confronted me in 45the day of my calamity, But 46the Lord was my stay.19He brought me forth also into a 47broad place; He rescued me, because 48He delighted in me.
