Psalms 107
The Lord Rescues People from Many Troubles.
11Give thanks to the Lord, for 2He is good, For His mercy is everlasting.23The redeemed of the Lord shall say so, Those whom He has 4redeemed from the hand of the enemy3And 5gathered from the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the 6south.
4They 7wandered in the wilderness in a 8desert region; They did not find a way to 9an inhabited 10city.5They were hungry 11and thirsty; Their 12souls felt weak within them.6Then they 13cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.7He also had them walk on a 1415straight way, To go to 1617an inhabited city.818They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, And for His 19wonders to the sons of mankind!9For He has 20satisfied the 21thirsty soul, And He has filled the 22hungry soul with what is good.
10There were those who 23lived in darkness and in 24the shadow of death, 25Prisoners in misery and 26chains,11Because they had 27rebelled against the words of God And 28rejected the 29plan of the Most High.12Therefore He humbled their heart with labor; They stumbled and there was 30no one to help.13Then they 31cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.14He 32brought them out of darkness and 33the shadow of death And 34broke their bands apart.1535They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, And for His 36wonders to the sons of mankind!16For He has 37shattered gates of bronze And cut off bars of iron.
17Fools, because of 38their rebellious way, And 39because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.18Their 40souls loathed all kinds of food, And they 41came close to the 42gates of death.19Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.20He 43sent His word and 44healed them, And 45saved them from their 46destruction.2147They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, And for His 48wonders to the sons of mankind!22They shall also offer 49sacrifices of thanksgiving, And 50tell of His works with joyful singing.
23Those who 51go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters;24They have seen the works of the Lord, And His 52wonders in the deep.25For He 53spoke and raised a 54stormy wind, Which 55lifted the waves 56of the sea.26They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul 57melted away in their misery.27They reeled and 58staggered like a drunken person, And 59were at their wits’ end.28Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses.29He 60caused the storm to be still, So that the waves 61of the sea were hushed.30Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired harbor.3162They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, And for His 6364wonders to the sons of mankind!32They shall also 65exalt Him 66in the congregation of the people, And 67praise Him at the seat of the elders.
33He 68turns rivers into a 69wilderness, And springs of water into a thirsty ground;34And a 70fruitful land into a 71salt waste, Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.35He 72turns a 73wilderness into a pool of water, And a dry land into springs of water;36And He has the hungry live there, So that they may establish 7475an inhabited city,37And sow fields and 76plant vineyards, And 77gather a fruitful harvest.38He also blesses them and they 78multiply greatly, And He 79does not let their cattle decrease.
39When they 80become few and 81lowly Because of oppression, misery, and sorrow,40He 82pours contempt upon noblemen And 83makes them wander 84in a pathless wasteland.41But He 85sets the needy 86securely on high, away from affliction, And 87makes his families like a flock.42The 88upright see it and are glad; But all 89injustice shuts its mouth.43Who is 90wise? He is to pay attention to these things, And consider the 91mercy of the Lord.
