Psalms 89:1-37
1123I will 4sing of the lovingkindness of the Lord forever; To all generations I will 5make known Your 6faithfulness with my mouth.2For I have said, “7Lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens You will establish Your 8faithfulness.”3“I have made a covenant with 9My chosen; I have 10sworn to David My servant,4I will establish your 11seed forever And build up your 12throne to all generations.” 13Selah.
5The 14heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord; Your faithfulness also 15in the assembly of the 16holy ones.6For 17who in the skies is comparable to the Lord? Who among the 1819sons of the mighty is like the Lord,7A God 20greatly feared in the council of the 21holy ones, And 22awesome above all those who are around Him?8O Lord God of hosts, 23who is like You, O mighty 24Lord? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.9You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You 25still them.10You Yourself crushed 2627Rahab like one who is slain; You 28scattered Your enemies with 29Your mighty arm.
11The 30heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; The 31world and 32all it contains, You have founded them.12The 33north and the south, You have created them; 34Tabor and 35Hermon 36shout for joy at Your name.13You have 37a strong arm; Your hand is mighty, Your 38right hand is exalted.1439Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; 40Lovingkindness and 41truth go before You.15How blessed are the people who know the 4243joyful sound! O Lord, they walk in the 44light of Your countenance.16In 45Your name they rejoice all the day, And by Your righteousness they are exalted.17For You are the glory of 46their strength, And by Your favor 47our 48horn is exalted.18For our 49shield belongs to the Lord, 50And our king to the 51Holy One of Israel.
1952Once You spoke in vision to Your godly 53ones, And said, “I have 54given help to one who is 55mighty; I have exalted one 56chosen from the people.20I have 57found David My servant; With My holy 58oil I have anointed him,21With whom 59My hand will be established; My arm also will 60strengthen him.22The enemy will not 61deceive him, Nor the 6263son of wickedness afflict him.23But I shall 64crush his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him.24My 65faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him, And in My name his 66horn will be exalted.25I shall also set his hand 67on the sea And his right hand on the rivers.26He will cry to Me, ‘You are 68my Father, My God, and the 69rock of my salvation.’27I also shall make him My 70firstborn, The 71highest of the kings of the earth.28My 72lovingkindness I will keep for him forever, And My 73covenant shall be confirmed to him.29So I will establish his 7475descendants forever And his 76throne 77as the days of heaven.
30“If his sons 78forsake My law And do not walk in My judgments,31If they 79violate My statutes And do not keep My commandments,32Then I will punish their transgression with the 80rod And their iniquity with stripes.33But I will not break off 81My lovingkindness from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.34My 82covenant I will not 83violate, Nor will I 84alter 85the utterance of My lips.3586Once I have 87sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David.36His 8889descendants shall endure forever And his 90throne 91as the sun before Me.37It shall be established forever 92like the moon, And the 93witness in the sky is faithful.” 94Selah.
