Psalms 78:38-64
38But He, being 1compassionate, 23forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them; And often He 45restrained His anger And did not arouse all His wrath.39Thus 6He remembered that they were but 7flesh, A 89wind that passes and does not return.
40How often they 10rebelled against Him in the wilderness And 11grieved Him in the 12desert!41Again and again they 1314tempted God, And pained the 15Holy One of Israel.42They 16did not remember 17His 18power, The day when He 19redeemed them from the adversary,43When He performed His 20signs in Egypt And His 21marvels in the field of Zoan,44And 22turned their rivers to blood, And their streams, they could not drink.45He sent among them swarms of 23flies which devoured them, And 24frogs which destroyed them.46He gave also their crops to the 25grasshopper And the product of their labor to the 26locust.47He 27destroyed their vines with 28hailstones And their sycamore trees with frost.48He gave over their 29cattle also to the hailstones And their herds to bolts of lightning.49He 30sent upon them His burning anger, Fury and indignation and trouble, 31A band of destroying angels.50He leveled a path for His anger; He did not spare their soul from death, But 32gave over their life to the plague,51And 33smote all the firstborn in Egypt, The 34first issue of their virility in the tents of 35Ham.52But He 36led forth His own people like sheep And guided them in the wilderness 37like a flock;53He led them 38safely, so that they did not fear; But 39the sea engulfed their enemies.
54So 40He brought them to His holy 41land, To this 4243hill country 44which His right hand had gained.55He also 45drove out the nations before them And 46apportioned them for an inheritance by measurement, And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.56Yet they 4748tempted and 49rebelled against the Most High God And did not keep His testimonies,57But turned back and 50acted treacherously like their fathers; They 51turned aside like a treacherous bow.58For they 52provoked Him with their 53high places And 54aroused His jealousy with their 55graven images.59When God heard, He 56was filled with 57wrath And greatly 58abhorred Israel;60So that He 59abandoned the 60dwelling place at Shiloh, The tent 61which He had pitched among men,61And gave up His 62strength to captivity And His glory 63into the hand of the adversary.62He also 64delivered His people to the sword, And 65was filled with wrath at His inheritance.6366Fire devoured 67His young men, And 68His 69virgins had no wedding songs.6470His 71priests fell by the sword, And 72His 73widows could not weep.
