Psalms 74:1-8

11O God, why have You 2rejected us forever? Why does Your anger 3smoke against the 4sheep of Your 5pasture?2Remember Your congregation, which You have 6purchased of old, Which You have 7redeemed to be the 8tribe of Your inheritance; And this Mount 9Zion, where You have dwelt.310Turn Your footsteps toward the 11perpetual ruins; The enemy 12has damaged everything within the sanctuary.4Your adversaries have 13roared in the midst of Your meeting place; They have set up their 14own 15standards 16for signs.5It seems as if one had lifted up His 1718axe in a 19forest of trees.6And now 20all its 21carved work They smash with hatchet and 22hammers.7They have 2324burned Your sanctuary 25to the ground; They have 26defiled the dwelling place of Your name.8They 27said in their heart, “Let us 28completely 29subdue them.” They have burned all the meeting places of God in the land.
