Psalms 69:1-33

11Save me, O God, For the 2waters have 3threatened my life.2I have sunk in deep 4mire, and there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and a 56flood overflows me.3I am 7weary with my crying; my throat is parched; My 8eyes fail while I wait for my God.4Those 9who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would 10destroy me 11are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies; 12What I did not steal, I then have to restore.

5O God, it is You who knows 13my folly, And 14my wrongs are not hidden from You.6May those who wait for You not 15be ashamed through me, O Lord 16God of hosts; May those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel,7Because 17for Your sake I have borne reproach; 18Dishonor has covered my face.8I have become 19estranged 20from my brothers And an alien to my mother’s sons.9For 21zeal for Your house has consumed me, And 22the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.10When I wept 23in my soul with fasting, It became my reproach.11When I made 24sackcloth my clothing, I became 25a byword to them.12Those who 26sit in the gate talk about me, And I am the 2728song of the drunkards.

13But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, 29at an acceptable time; O God, in the 30greatness of Your lovingkindness, Answer me with 31Your saving truth.14Deliver me from the 32mire and do not let me sink; May I be 33delivered from 34my foes and from the 3536deep waters.15May the 3738flood of water not overflow me Nor the deep swallow me up, Nor the 39pit shut its mouth on me.

16Answer me, O Lord, for 40Your lovingkindness is good; 41According to the greatness of Your compassion, 42turn to me,17And 43do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am 44in distress; answer me quickly.18Oh draw near to my soul and 45redeem it; 46Ransom me because of my enemies!19You know my 47reproach and my shame and my dishonor; All my adversaries are 48before You.

20Reproach has 49broken my heart and I am so sick. And 50I looked for sympathy, but there was none, And for 51comforters, but I found none.21They also gave me 5253gall 54for my food And for my thirst they 55gave me vinegar to drink.

22May 56their table before them become a snare; And 5758when they are in peace, may it become a trap.23May their 59eyes grow dim so that they cannot see, And make their 60loins shake continually.2461Pour out Your indignation on them, And may Your burning anger overtake them.25May their 6263camp be desolate; May none dwell in their tents.26For they have 64persecuted him whom 65You Yourself have smitten, And they tell of the pain of those whom 66You have 67wounded.27Add 68iniquity to their iniquity, And 69may they not come into 70Your righteousness.28May they be 71blotted out of the 72book of life And may they not be 7374recorded with the righteous.

29But I am 75afflicted and in pain; 76May Your salvation, O God, 77set me securely on high.30I will 78praise the name of God with song And 79magnify Him with 80thanksgiving.31And it will 81please the Lord better than an ox Or a young bull with horns and hoofs.32The 82humble 83have seen it and are glad; You who seek God, 84let your heart 85revive.33For 86the Lord hears the needy And 87does not despise His who are prisoners.
