Psalms 55:9-16

9 1Confuse, O Lord, 2divide their tongues, For I have seen 3violence and strife in the city.10Day and night they go around her upon her walls, And iniquity and mischief are in her midst.11 4Destruction is in her midst; 5Oppression and deceit do not depart from her 6streets.

12For it is 7not an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who 8has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him.13But it is you, a man 9my equal, My 10companion and my 11 12familiar friend;14We who had sweet 13fellowship together 14Walked in the house of God in the throng.15Let 15death come 16deceitfully upon them; Let them 17go down alive to 18Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst.

16As for me, I shall 19call upon God, And the Lord will save me.
