Psalms 49:5-12

5Why should I 1fear in days of adversity, When the iniquity of my 2foes surrounds me,6Even those who 3trust in their wealth And boast in the abundance of their riches?7No man can by any means 4redeem his brother Or give to God a 5ransom for him--8For 6the redemption of 7his soul is costly, And he should cease trying forever--9That he should 8live on eternally, That he should not 9 10undergo decay.

10For he sees that even 11wise men die; The 12stupid and the senseless alike perish And 13leave their wealth to others.11Their 14 15inner thought is that their houses 16are forever And their dwelling places to all generations; They have 17called their lands after their own names.12But 18man in his 19pomp will not endure; He is like the 20beasts that 21perish.
