Psalms 42:1-11
11As the deer 2pants for the water brooks, So my soul 34pants for You, O God.2My soul 5thirsts for God, for the 6living God; When shall I come and 78appear before God?3My 9tears have been my food day and night, While they 10say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”4These things I remember and I 11pour out my soul within me. For I 12used to go along with the throng and 13lead them in procession to the house of God, With the voice of 14joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival.
515Why are you 1617in despair, O my soul? And why have you become 18disturbed within me? 1920Hope in God, for I shall 21again praise 22Him For the 2324help of His presence.6O my God, my soul is 25in despair within me; Therefore I 26remember You from 27the land of the Jordan And the 28peaks of 29Hermon, from Mount Mizar.7Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your 30breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.8The Lord will 31command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me 32in the night, A prayer to 33the God of my life.
9I will say to God 34my rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go 35mourning 36because of the 37oppression of the enemy?”10As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries revile me, While they 38say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”1139Why are you 40in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? 41Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The 42help of my countenance and my God.
