Psalms 42:1-11

1 1As the deer 2pants for the water brooks, So my soul 3 4pants for You, God.2My soul 5thirsts for God, for the 6living God; When shall I come and 7 8appear before God?3My 9tears have been my food day and night, While they 10say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”4I remember these things and 11pour out my soul within me. For I 12used to go over with the multitude and walk them to the house of God, With a voice of 13joy and thanksgiving, a multitude celebrating a festival.

5 14Why are you 15 16in despair, my soul? And why are you 17restless within me? 18Wait for God, for I will 19again praise 20Him For the 21 22help of His 23presence, my God.6My soul is 24in despair within me; Therefore I 25remember You from 26the land of the Jordan And the 27peaks of 28Hermon, from Mount Mizar.7Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your 29breakers and Your waves have passed over me.8The Lord will 30send His goodness in the daytime; And His song will be with me 31in the night, A prayer to 32the God of my life.

9I will say to God 33my rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go about 34mourning 35because of the 36oppression of the enemy?”10As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries taunt me, While they 37say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”11 38Why are you 39in despair, my soul? And why are you restless within me? Wait for God, for I will again praise 40Him For the 41help of His presence, my God.
