Psalms 40:7-17

Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is 1written of me.8 2I delight to do Your will, O my God; 3Your Law is within my heart.”

I have 4proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation; Behold, I will 5not restrain my lips, O Lord, 6You know.10I have 7not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have 8spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.

You, O Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me; 9Your 10lovingkindness and Your truth will continually preserve me.12For evils beyond number have 11surrounded me; My 12iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are 13more numerous than the hairs of my head, And my 14heart has 15failed me.

16Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; Make 17haste, O Lord, to help me.14Let those be 18ashamed and humiliated together Who 19seek my 20life to destroy it; Let those be turned back and dishonored Who delight 21in my hurt.15Let those 22be 23appalled because of their shame Who 24say to me, “Aha, aha!”16 25Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation 26say continually, “The Lord be magnified!”17Since 27I am afflicted and needy, 28 29Let the Lord be mindful of me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.
