Psalms 39:1-6
11I said, “I will 2guard my ways That I 3may not sin with my tongue; I will guard 4my mouth as with a muzzle While the wicked are in my presence.”2I was 5mute 6and silent, I 7refrained even from good, And my 8sorrow grew worse.3My 9heart was hot within me, While I was musing the fire burned; Then I spoke with my tongue:4“Lord, make me to know 10my end And what is the extent of my days; Let me know how 11transient I am.5Behold, You have made 12my days as handbreadths, And my 13lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Surely every man 14at his best is 15a mere 16breath. 17Selah.6Surely every man 18walks about as 19a phantom; Surely they make an 20uproar for nothing; He 21amasses riches and does not know who will gather them.
