Psalms 2
The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed.
1Why are 1the 2nations restless And the peoples 3plotting in vain?2The 4kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers conspire together 5Against the Lord and against His 67Anointed, saying,3“Let’s 8tear their shackles apart And throw their ropes away from us!”
4He who 9sits in the heavens 10laughs, The Lord 11scoffs at them.5Then He will speak to them in His 12anger And 13terrify them in His fury, saying,6“But as for Me, I have installed 14My King Upon Zion, 15My holy mountain.”
7“I will announce the 16decree of the Lord: He said to Me, ‘You are 17My Son, Today I have fathered You.8Ask it of Me, and 18I will certainly give 19the 20nations as Your inheritance, And the 21ends of the earth as Your possession.9You shall 2223break them with a 24rod of iron, You shall 25shatter them like 26earthenware.’”
10Now then, you kings, 27use insight; Let yourselves be instructed, you 28judges of the earth.11Serve the Lord with 2930reverence And rejoice with 31trembling.1232Kiss 33the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way, For 34His wrath may be kindled quickly. How blessed are all who 35take refuge in Him!
