Psalms 18:9-50

9He 1bowed the heavens also, and came down With thick 2darkness under His feet.10He rode upon a 3cherub and flew; And He sped upon the 4wings of the wind.11He made 5darkness His hiding place, 6His 7canopy around Him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.12From the 8brightness before Him passed His thick clouds, Hailstones and 9coals of fire.13The Lord also 10thundered in the heavens, And the Most High uttered His voice, Hailstones and coals of fire.14He 11sent out His arrows, and scattered them, And lightning flashes in abundance, and 12routed them.15Then the 13channels of water appeared, And the foundations of the world were 14laid bare At Your 15rebuke, O Lord, At the blast of the 16breath of Your nostrils.

16He 17sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of 18many waters.17He 19delivered me from my strong enemy, And from those who hated me, for they were 20too mighty for me.18They confronted me in 21the day of my calamity, But 22the Lord was my stay.19He brought me forth also into a 23broad place; He rescued me, because 24He delighted in me.

20The Lord has 25rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the 26cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.21For I have 27kept the ways of the Lord, And have 28not wickedly departed from my God.22For all 29His ordinances were before me, And I did not put away His 30statutes from me.23I was also 3132blameless with Him, And I 33kept myself from my iniquity.24Therefore the Lord has 34recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in His eyes.

25With 35the kind You show Yourself kind; With the 36blameless 37You show Yourself blameless;26With the pure You show Yourself 38pure, And with the crooked 39You show Yourself 40astute.27For You 41save an afflicted people, But 42haughty eyes You abase.28For You 43light my lamp; The Lord my God 44illumines my darkness.29For by You I can 4546run upon a troop; And by my God I can 47leap over a wall.

30As for God, His way is 4849blameless; The 50word of the Lord is tried; He is a 51shield to all who take refuge in Him.31For 52who is God, but the Lord? And who is a 53rock, except our God,32The God who 54girds me with strength And 55makes my way 5657blameless?33He 58makes my feet like hinds’ feet, And 59sets me upon my high places.34He 60trains my hands for battle, So that my arms can 61bend a bow of bronze.35You have also given me 62the shield of Your salvation, And Your 63right hand upholds me; And 64Your 65gentleness makes me great.36You 66enlarge my steps under me, And my 6768feet have not slipped.

37I 69pursued my enemies and overtook them, And I did not turn back 70until they were consumed.38I shattered them, so that they were 71not able to rise; They fell 72under my feet.39For You have 73girded me with strength for battle; You have 7475subdued under me those who rose up against me.40You have also made my enemies 76turn their backs to me, And I 7778destroyed those who hated me.41They cried for help, but there was 79none to save, Even to the Lord, but 80He did not answer them.42Then I beat them fine as the 81dust before the wind; I emptied them out as the mire of the streets.

43You have delivered me from the 82contentions of the people; You have placed me as 83head of the nations; A 84people whom I have not known serve me.44As soon as they hear, they obey me; Foreigners 8586submit to me.45Foreigners 87fade away, And 88come trembling out of their 89fortresses.

46The Lord 90lives, and blessed be 91my rock; And exalted be 92the God of my salvation,47The God who 93executes vengeance for me, And 94subdues peoples under me.48He 95delivers me from my enemies; Surely You 96lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the 97violent man.49Therefore I will 98give thanks to You among the nations, O Lord, And I will 99sing praises to Your name.50He gives great 100101deliverance to His king, And shows lovingkindness to 102His anointed, To David and 103his 104descendants forever.
