Psalms 132

Prayer for the Lord’s Blessing upon the Sanctuary.

A Song of Ascents.

1Remember, Lord, in David’s behalf, All 1his affliction;2How he swore to the Lord And vowed to 2the Mighty One of Jacob,3“I certainly will not 3enter 4my house, Nor 5lie on my bed;4I will not 6give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids,5Until I find a 7place for the Lord, 8A dwelling place for 9the Mighty One of Jacob.”

6Behold, we heard about it in 10Ephrathah, We found it in the 11field of 12Jaar.7Let’s go into His 1314dwelling place; Let’s 15worship at His 16footstool.817Arise, Lord, to Your 18resting place, You and the ark of Your 19strength.9May Your priests be 20clothed with righteousness, And may Your 21godly ones sing for joy.

10For the sake of Your servant David, Do not turn away the face of Your 22anointed.11The Lord has 23sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: “I will set upon your throne one 24from the fruit of your body.12If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I will teach them, Their sons also will 25sit upon your throne forever.”

13For the Lord has 26chosen Zion; He has 27desired it as His dwelling place.14“This is My 28resting place forever; Here I will 29dwell, for I have desired it.15I will abundantly 30bless her food; I will 31satisfy her needy with bread.16I will also clothe her 32priests with salvation, And her 33godly ones will sing aloud for joy.17I will make the 34horn of David spring forth there; I have prepared a 35lamp for My anointed.18I will 36clothe his enemies with shame, But upon himself his 37crown will gleam.”
