Context of Psalms 88:3
1Lord, the God of my salvation, I have cried out by day and in the night before You. 2Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry! For my soul has had enough troubles, And my life has approached Sheol. 4I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I have become like a man without strength, 5Abandoned among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You no longer remember, And they are cut off from Your hand.

Commentaries on Psalms 88:3
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 3For my soul is full of troubles - I am full of trouble. The word rendered as “full” means properly to satiate as with food; that is, when as much had been taken as could be. So he says here, that this trouble was as great as he could bear; he could sustain no more. He had reached the utmost point of endurance; he had no power to bear anymore. And my life draweth nigh unto the grave - Hebrew, to Sheol. Compare the notes at Isaiah 14:9; notes at Job…Read the comment
