1 John 1

The Incarnate Word

1What was 1from the beginning, what we have 2heard, what we have 3seen with our eyes, what we 4have looked at and 5touched with our hands, concerning the 6Word of Life-- 2and 7the life was revealed, and we have 8seen and 9testify and proclaim to you 10the eternal life, which was 11with the Father and was 12revealed to us-- 3what we have 13seen and 14heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our 15fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 16These things we write, so that our 17joy may be made complete.

God Is Light

5 18This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that 19God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 20If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we 21lie and 22do not practice the truth; 7but if we 23walk in the Light as 24He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and 25the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 26If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the 27truth is not in us. 9 28If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and 29cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 30If we say that we have not sinned, we 31make Him a liar and 32His word is not in us.
