Psalms 64

Prayer for Rescue from Secret Enemies.

For the music director. A Psalm of David.

1Hear my voice, God, in 1my 2complaint; 3Protect my life from dread of the enemy.2Hide me from the 4secret discussion of evildoers, From the restlessness of 5the workers of injustice,3Who 6have sharpened their tongues like a sword. They 7aimed bitter speech as their arrows,4To 8shoot 9from concealment at the innocent; Suddenly they shoot at him, and 10do not fear.5They make firm for themselves an evil 11purpose; They 12talk of 13setting snares secretly; They say, “14Who can see them?”6They 15devise injustices, saying, “We are 16ready with a well-conceived plot”; For the 17 18inward thought and the heart of a person are 19deep.

7But 20God 21will shoot an arrow at them; Suddenly 22they will be wounded.8So 23they 24will 25make him stumble; 26Their own tongue is against them; All who see them will 27shake their heads.9Then all people 28will 29fear, And they 30will 31declare the work of God, And 32will consider 33what He has done.10The righteous person will be 34glad in the Lord and 35take refuge in Him; And all the upright in heart will boast.
